AZTwinsFanJm Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Thought this was too horrible and too funny. My roommate was talking with a guy who claimed to be a pro baseball player online for months. He gave her the sob story that his dad recently died and how bad he felt. They meet up at a casino and get it on in the hotel. He leaves. She wakes up naked with $200 on the nightstand. A little research online shows he is not a pro ball player but is a independent league bum who only made AAA in his career. His dad didn't die in the timeframe he described, and rather in the time he said his dad died, he actually proposed to his girlfriend and was engaged. He played for the Cleveland Indians organization and may have cracked the top 10 prospects or was close. Kind of a worthless story but thought some of you may be entertained by it
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Depending on which indy league the guy played it, he might still be a pro. Even if the league pays so little that he still needs an off-season job, that's not so different than the Major Leagues were up until the 1950's or maybe even a bit later. She was lucky she woke up still in possession of her kidneys. Moderator's note: forgive me for changing the title. It was a little too National Enquirer-like.

ashbury Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 It's funny because it's true.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Better than that time John woke up to find $200 worth of Hashbury's finest acid on his nightstand and a dead women naked in his bed.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 All independent leagues that pay its players are professional. The Northern League. The American Association. The Can-Am League. They have to pay the players.
