Article: Which Twins are most likely to be traded?

I know you aren't one to hold back hyperbole in your negativity, but I don't think anyone said Gardy was doing a "great" job. He's probably doing more or less what any manager would do with this collection of talent.

I agree. I don't think his managing has caused this collection of talent to lose more games than its talent level suggests it should.

But, I also don't think he's caused it to win any more games than it should either.

To me that sounds like the description of, average, mediocre, replacement level, whatever term you want to use for it.

Is that really what we should be striving for?

Just as we would with any position player, or pitcher, shouldn't our goal be to have the best manager we can find, not just one who is "good enough"?

If he still had a year(s) left under contract, I would say you don't fire him necessarily, because it's not his fault he has no talent. But since his contract is up after this year anyway, I don't see him as being good enough to justify giving him an extension. Is being just as good as they should be a good reason to do so?

I personally think they should replace Gardy after the season. But that is a little off topic.

Is there proof somewhere that Drew Butera's damn defense is still "elite"? That word is bandied about left and right around here about his current defense. I do not buy it. NO team is going to trade anything for Drew Butera.

Given that a PTBNL is something, I will put the smack down on myself here!

i expect you will dog any former top talents that have struggled in their initial call ups. I personally find those types of moves wise gambles in these situations.

Initial call up doesn't quite fit Arrieta, but I do agree with the strategy. Post-hype kids win me a fantasy baseball league just about every year.

Yeah I struggled for an apt description, but looks like you got the jist. I dothe same thing in fantasy ball - hawk for mid 20s guys with a new opportunity.

Its borderline criminal how much room for opportunity the Twins have and the non-talents or aging no-values they are using it on.
