Matthew's 7 innings , Matthew's is improving and proving the spring doubters were wrong ... Couple of nice starts from Prielipp and Matthew's ( we just might have a future ) ... Tom P. And Zoll , I hope you were watching cause Houston came roaring back against your competitive BULLPEN and we almost lost The spring doubters were absolutely correct. Matthews sucked for his first 4 starts in AAA, then has been inconsistent since. I'm a fan of his story and I like seeing him have success. He's not improving. He's getting improved results. Last 5 starts 3.82 ERA, 5.22 xERA (his pitches are getting clobbered), 4.86 FIP, 4.53 xFIP. Matthews has a lot in common with Varland in terms of his problems.
Saxophone Joe Verified Member Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Meant to ask - was that Josh Bell's family the camera panned to after his home run? I don't think it was mentioned on the broadcast. Just thought they seemed more excited than a typical group of Twins fan watching in Houston would be. Pretty cool if his parents were in the crowd for that dinger. DJL44 1
Jacksson Verified Member Posted Wednesday at 01:09 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:09 AM I think it is a miscarriage of justice that a pitcher who enters a game with a 5-3 lead and then promptly serves up a HOMERUN to narrow the score to 5-4 is credited with a save even though he did get the final out.

Says more about our offense than anything (and the bullpen kept us out of some close games too), of course, but still, most teams not named the Dodgers would be satisfied with that. Win or lose tonight, we had a winning June. The trouble is you really have to go back to when we were leading after three four or five enemies
