Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Heading to Vegas today for a 4-day weekend ... first 'it's all about me' vacation in 2 years. I've never been to Vegas before, any 'must see' or 'must do' thoughts? I'm not staying on the Strip (at the Red Rocks Casino and Resort) but will be there. Planning on going to a Cirque show. Let me know if you think there is something that is an absolute must. Thanks!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Are you going to see the Beatles "Love" show by Cirque? It's fantastic! So many good eats, Ferraro's if you love Italian, try the red velvet pancakes at Babystacks, prime rib at Bob Taylor's (a classic institution).....the list goes on and on.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Yes, the Beatles one. Quite honestly, I'd go see all of them if time and money allowed. Thanks for the restaurant tips!
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Food is pretty easy to come by. I had no problems finding good food the week I was there. The Hoover Dam isn't that far away and worth a trip out if time permits. When we went out, we made it a point of walking through a few different casinos every day. We got to see most of them that way. Just an FYI when going out in the late afternoon/evening. If you are going out alone this won't apply, but the strip will be littered with individuals handing out marketing material for various adult services, and they will not hesitate to hand it to children either. If you are traveling with young children, you may want to avoid the strip unless you plan on having some uncomfortable conversations with them.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Maybe I'll get a tattoo ... anyone know of a good place?
James Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The Beatles Cirque show is great. I've lost track of how many times I've been to Vegas now. Here's a trick for getting some drinks (if you want them). Go to a casino bar with video poker. Put $20 in the machine and make sure the bartender see it. They will comp your drink. After you get your drink, you can cash out and get your $20 back. Easy way to get a free drink in Vegas. Or you could just gamble and get free drinks, but that tends to be more expensive in the long run.
