Tailgating?

Have some family coming into town for a game in August and they want to tailgate prior to the game. Is there somewhere anyone can suggest to park near Target Field that allows tailgating?

I can't say that I've ever seen a parking lot that allows this for Twins games. I'm not really sure why though. Probably because they are trying to fit so many people in. I think you're going to have some serious trouble finding this.

You are probably going to have to settle for hitting up a bar or the Fulton tap room. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful though.

Tailgating's not really much of an option here; the stadium is crammed into downtown, and most of the parking is in ramp form.

On the other hand, no one seems to mind, since the main gate heads straight out to 1st Ave. Take them to Kieran's patio or my personal favorite (if you're into dives) Cuzzy's.

Yeah, I couldn't think of anywhere either. They'll have to be happy with going to a bar. They're White Sox fans anyway....

Take 'em to North Minneapolis. They'll feel right at home.

+1.

It's a pretty short jaunt from TF actually. Plenty of room for them to tailgate there.

If you truly want to tailgate, I think your best bet is going to be a little ways down toward the Metrodome in any of the surface lots. Then either walk on down to TF or hop on the light rail (only 50 cents in the downtown area). A little portable grill should be fine, just don't expect to see tons of folks around doing the same.

Always park North of the stadium even if you live south. I can get from my seat to my bed in less then 30 minutes, if you park Metrodome side you'll still be downtown.

Your statement is true, but is there anywhere to tailgate in the Warehouse district? I can't think of many surface lots.

There are several small surface lots, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone tailgate in them, and I live in the warehouse district.
