Game Thread: Twins @ Rays, 7/9 - 6:10pm

Dear Twins,

I would really like a win tonight. I'm starting to feel kind of discouraged, to be honest. A nice, clean game would be good too. I know that rookies make mistakes, our rotation isn't too solid, the bullpen's struggling, the hitters are pressing- that's all part of baseball. But it's nice to have a good win here and there, and tonight would be really good. Thank you for doing your best.

Sincerely,

Twins fan since Blyleven was a rookie and Harmon was hitting his 500th home run.

I will be very happy if Gibson gets a quality start, even if the Twins lose the game. Or if I get trapped in an elevator with Eva Longoria. Not necessarily in that order.

"...and the voice rang out, 'Eva Longoria, you have sinned...'."

That was a shout out to diehard in case anyone missed the reference

I completely failed to miss that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Now I lay me down to watch

A Twins game that they do not botch.

If I should die before they win,

I pray the Lord to kick their shins.

Amen.

Change the third line to

"If I should die before a win shall pass"

Then change the 4th line

I like how John McClane keeps saving bigger things. Skyscraper -> Airport -> New York City -> 'Murica -> The World (I'm assuming. Haven't actually seen Die Hard 5 yet. Russia?)

You Old So and So... What's the good Word?

Now you Type -- Beer on the House... That's 4 words but I just don't want to break up a perfect family of words.

I'd say that we have to try to find what good we can but that sounds too much like being okay with getting a ribbon just for participating and as a woman, that's just not good enough for me.

i'd like to get a ribbon for participating with a woman, but this leprosy.

Lots of pictures on the theme Gibson so far. Oh wait, you get those.

Hard-hit balls by the Twins in the first, routine grounders by the Rays.

My daughter was planning her birthday party, perhaps 9 years old (and 9 years ago). She had all these ideas for subjective games, like "best dancer", that I was supposed to judge. She told me "and you have to pick someone who wins. None of this 'you're all winners' stuff."

When my son was 9... I told him that I was getting a clown for my 5 year old sons birthday.

He got kind of excited about it and he asked me "A real clown or some guy dressed as a clown"?

Hicks just got a boo-boo on his ribs, courtesy of the pitcher.

So, Hicks goes 4-for-4 yesterday, and today he gets hit by a pitch his first time up. Anybody watching the game, has he been crowding the plate lately, accounting for some relative success?

Heres a screen capture of the Twins trainer working on Hicks after the beanball.

Woo-hoo, Mark from Grand Forks, ND with the car soup question.

People from Grand Forks are capable of asking better questions... We should make him move to Fargo!

I honestly missed the question because I was so excited to hear Grand Forks mentioned on the picture-box.

Wow, you use that line too? When he was very young, our younger son was very afraid of clowns - and I found that that joke did *not* improve his disposition in such situations. :)

For Glunn. Opposite field liner to the wall off the bat of Mauer. Leaping catch for an out. Doumit with another line drive out. This time to center. Loud outs.

Wouldn't you know it... I have the transcript right here.

Mark from Grand Forks asked "what do people from China call their good plates?"

Nice commentary. Thanks. How does Gibson look? Dominant?
