The bullpen and Inherited Runners scored

It seems that early in the season when the starters were having trouble, the bullpen was lights out. Now as the starters are improving, I feel like the bullpen has been struggling with allowing inherited runners to score and taking close games (and relatively good starts) and putting them mostly out of reach. (Duensing especially, has made me think about this). A cursory glance as some stats shows that while Duensing has been in more high leverage situations than ever before he is allowing 34%! of inherited runners to score this year. Meanwhile Casey Fien is only allowing 14% of inherited runners to score. Is anyone who is more adept at stat investigation able to find out if this is a trend that has gotten significantly worse in June vs April-May? Where do the twins sit vs. league average? If Duensing cannot be counted on in High leverage 6-7th inning situations I would think that there are a number of options to fill that role within the system

There isn't enough sample to make a statement about any individual pitcher. Last year Fien allowed 44%.

I disagree. Everyone besides Thielbar has at least 22 appearances, and the others besides Swarzak and Pressley have at least 28. That's a big enough sample size to at least see how they are performing with regards to inherited runners so far this year.

Twins Relievers have inherited 119 base runners. (second highest in the American League.)

The Bullpen has allowed 37% of those runners to score. (highest in the American League, Second highest in both leagues.)

The league average is 31%

Perkins and Burton aside, this pen lacks power relievers. I still miss the early 2000 pens of Romero, Rincoln, Hawkins, Nathan, and Balfour.

One of the positives I see in last year's draft class is that a lot of the pitchers they took have reasonable shots to be major league power relievers. I do think the next wave should look nice with a few of those guys to go with Tonkin and if he's not traded Perkins.
