with no end of inning,  Miranda gets screwed,   back to a ho hum 4-4  day

Confirmed with a person who knows the scoring rules as well as anyone short of Stew Thornley -- if the game is official and the lead hasn't changed in the inning the game is called, everything to that point counts.

Can’t be accurate. If game doesn’t continue it should revert back to the previous full inning

Nope, the stats count. It’s only if the lead changes without the home team getting their chance to take the lead that the results don’t count.

Nuanced addendum: If the home team has taken the lead in the incomplete inning, though it's effectively a walk-off situation, all stats still count, even if the game has continued on.

Example: Visiting team is leading 5-4 after 5 1/2 innings. If the home team scores six in the bottom of the inning and the game is not completed, everything counts, even though if it was a normal walkoff situation, play would have stopped when they took the lead.

So Miranda is 5 for 5.

Or in the case of suspended game which will be picked up later, such as if a) the game was tied at the beginning of the inning and is still tied or the visiting team had taken the lead; b) the visiting team had taken the lead in the top of the inning and the home team hadn't finished the bottom; or c) the home team had tied the game, but not yet completed the inning.

(So you can see why suspended games are pretty rare -- it takes several things to come together to make it happen.)

With Buxton having the day off I would rather see Castro in CF and Martin at 2B instead of the other way around.

Also, an odd time to give Santana a day off, but Margot has better numbers against Maeda.

We'll see how it works out.

Neither are doing very well, may be if they were switched we'd have better results, But we are winning.

Suddenly the Twins lineup seems loaded with hitters. Wha happen? Gotta figure it was all about those early-season oscillations, where some guys are red hot and others are ice cold. On paper, the Twins are now chock full of guys that got here based on their skill with a bat. Some of them then worked their butts off to be acceptable fielders. See Miranda, Julien, Kepler, Jeffers. Others are high 1st round picks that are assumed to be great fielders. See Lewis, Lee, Buxton, Correa. The team also is lucky to have some excellent "glue" players like Castro, Santana, and...Larnach? Not sure where Larnach fits, but he came up for his bat, and he's always been a solid OF.

Anyway, it should not be terribly surprising that a team leaning heavily on acquiring bat-first guys should get hot with their bats. Also nice to hear Royce Lewis saying his groin injury doesn't feel that bad. Maybe he'll be back in a week or three. No rush, Royce. Brooks Lee can use a decent tryout at third.

Good problems to have. Now, if somebody could teach Festa to throw a cutter...

There is really no need, but Rocco loves to use that bench.

When you are that far ahead it’s absolutely time to use the bench. Let them get at bats, save the starters for games with the Astros. It’s often done that way.

Heading to the car… Really fun game to watch! Hell of a game for Jose 5 for 5 Miranda.

Would have liked it if he could have had a chance at 6 for 6

With where they were in the batting order with two outs in the eighth, there's a good likelihood he wouldn't have had a chance.

But then again, the way the Tigers were pitching...

They were in the 7th. Still not likely but I’d still wish he could have had a chance 🙂

Sorry, that's what I meant -- four outs' worth of hitting, and he was eight spots away. Would have indeed been fun.

But this way he can always tell his kids that he would have had six hits, but the game was called early. 😀

Yes.

But this post came when Santana was the PH -- he doesn't exactly need AB.

TIL That no matter how bad the field or the radar looks, once the tarp is put down MLB requires a 30 minute wait to officially just call the game over.  Pretty sure I heard it on CCO postgame.

Question for all of you-twins live at target field during season don’t they? I think Rocco does for sure. Didn’t TK/gardy/molitor live at dome/target field during season?

I try not to be THAT guy on the intrawebs, but this took me multiple read-throughs to understand, and it's a fun question I've never heard.
Translation: The Twins players and staff live at Target Field during the season, correct?
Rocco lives at Target Field for sure, previous managers all lived inside the Metrodome or Target Field in season?
