Detroit is a bottom third offense. They're 26th in team OPS, two spots ahead of our beloved Twins. They suck as much as we do right now. If Varland can't bounce back here and go at least 5+ innings of good ball Idk what to say...

Just had a moment to check on the game. Mr. V seems to have very poor control today. I hope he finds his groove.

I'm gonna say something controversial (hahahahahaha) here: Rocco is a pretty godawful manager. Spreadsheet told him 2 hours before game time yesterday when to remove Ober. Today the spreadsheet didn't tell him to watch Varland pitch to the first 3 batters of the game and get him out before he tanks the entire game.

Yes, they were in first place last year at this date. Far from 7 games out of first place. This team is laughably bad - easily one of the five worst teams in the majors - even worse than the Oakland Athletics. Falvey should be fired ASAP.

He looked great last week, but he's also got an ERA of 6.08 at St Paul this year. They're going to have to send Varland down and call SWR up, but I'm not entirely enthused by his AAA numbers.
