I'm running back most of the team. I'd be open to trading Polanco and/or Kepler but am in no rush to do so. I'd even be willing to consider trading Polanco for prospects given we don't really know what to do with Julien if he's on the roster and Buxton plays DH at least half the time.

I don't love that Kiermaier is left-handed but I still think he's the best choice at the price point. As soon as it's reasonable to do so, I'd make room for Martin or Keirsey to play the fourth outfielder role, particularly center field.

My biggest expenditure is Lucas Giolito. He's a risk but I think at the price, he's the best bounce-back candidate and is almost certainly looking for a one year deal to build value. He's still only 29 years old and will want to get back on the market next offseason, I think.

Given payroll constraints, I'm trying to keep the offseason quiet. I'd dabble in bullpen reclamation arms but keep Kyle Farmer; he's just too useful on this roster as both a RHB and a guy who can cover for the oft-injured Correa, Polanco, and Lewis. He's worth the insurance policy at $6.6m.

I'd like to move Vazquez but am not really comfortable doing so this offseason. He could be a mid-season trade should Camargo present himself as a 26-man option.

Payroll is 1.51% under budget

Honestly, this is about what I thought/wanted even before the news of a possible/probably payroll cut.

My exceptions were that I really wanted to go bigger than Giolito with Nola, Gray, Wheeler, or Rodriguez.

I like Kiermaier in CF, even though he's LH.

I had some hope for a solid $5-6M arm for the pen to hedge on Stewart and Alcala in particular, but with Varland there....(not 100% convinced he's going there this soon)...said arm might be unnecessary.

Would be great to add a solid, not overly expensive corner OF who bats RH, but there's no room unless you just allow/assume someone is always hurt and on the IL so you're rotating guys in and out.

Because there are not many moves to make for the roster this offseason.  I figured we would plug them through free agency.  But with the news that payroll is headed down.  (I do hope this is a ploy) I believe the starting rotation addition will come from a trade.  I can see a CF or reliever signed through FA but I think a salary will be offloaded to help cover the cost of the new pitcher.   If we do go through FA for the starter then Giolito is the obvious top choice because he has the most potential and will likely only be a 1 year deal.
