Nash Walker Verified Member Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Louie Varland showed flashes of being a potential front of the rotation starter for the Minnesota Twins, including in a gem at Houston earlier this season. Varland moved to the bullpen and thrived, pairing a 98-100 mph fastball with a devastating cutter. What will the Twins do with Varland in 2024? Will he start or relieve? View full video
Major League Ready Verified Member Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Depends on if they are willing to add a high price free agent. If they add a guy at $25M year, they will have $95M/yr invested in 4 players starting in 2025. That's not a good formula but they are going to need another top of the rotation guy if they are going to make a deep playoff run. Perhaps they add someone to the BP instead and try Varland in the rotation. They still have him for the BP role in the playoffs and they go out and get a rental if needed. joefish 1
