The Twins calling up James Beresford a few years ago in September was not about winning games.. Every year you will find players rewarded with a call up and play based on the merits if service to the organization. Drew Magglie was another. 

As noted earlier, the game was moot from the start. If it is as you say moot now,, it was moot them

Sorry the Twins care more about winning playoff games than meaningless regular season games. So heartless of them. Could you imagine an NFL team sitting their stars the last week when they have their playoff spot locked in?! They'd never! Oh wait, they do that all the time.
