Congrats, Willi!  First to 30 SB since Ben Revere, I believe.

Phooey. I should have relied on TD. I just spent several minutes trudging back through baseball-reference for this tidbit. The year was 2012, and Revere had 40.

EDIT to add: And they also had Alexi Casilla and Darin Mastroianni at 21 each. Yeah, they lost 96.

Good play by Lewis, but also a good play by Julien on the batter before given that he has hardly played first base,

Anybody else surprised to see Wallner bat here?

Moore is the only lefty left and he threw 22 pitches yesterday.  Maybe Rocco is playing the long game.

As an MLB tv subscriber I was sent a survey a week ago.  There were a variety of multiple choice questions, what do you like, what do you not like, etc.  I got one chance to write in my own answer to "How could we improve the game in 2024"?  My answer:  "Robo umps."

Lack of concentration by the umpire on those poor missed strike three calls to Kepler and Wallner. Neither was within an acceptable error range if you saw the pitches.

Your obsession with that stupid little box on TV is ruining the game for you.

No blatant balls being called strikes ruins the game.

Thatll show up on the ump scorecard tomorrow.

Mildly, and glad Rocco resisted the urge to get played.

LOL.

That ump scorecard is lieterally two college kids doing it on their free time. It's as worthless as the stupid little box on TV.

So for the record, you are saying the calls to Kepler and Wallner were good calls?

I didn't see the pitch to Kepler.

The K of Wallner might have been low. Hard to say, the box on TV doesn't represent the strike zone.

Who gives a ****? It's meaningless. Watch the game, not the umps. Who, by the way, are really, really good. Easily the best of all the major pro sports. By a large margin.

Do you REALLY think robo umps are going to make the game better?

Nobody needed a box on the TV to see that was a ball.

I can easily forgive missing a ball/strike call on the outside corner.  Those are difficult to call for the best umpires... probably impossible with the human eye.

To miss a pitch that is not only low, but also several inches inside?  That's incompetent.  You can't miss the inside corner as an umpire.   Vlad Guerrero would have let that pitch go without swinging.

One of the advantages of listening on radio over watching on TV is that my shorts don't get wound quite as tight over calls, whether balls/strikes or otherwise.

I also don't have to see how badly Jeffers gets thrown out stealing a base, which I assume was by about a mile.

Agreed. When was the last time MLB eased out an ump?

For the record, then I'll drop it...I didn't comment on or bring up Kepler's AB.

You did.
