Looking at the radar Progressive Field may catch just a minimal trace of precipitation. Doubt the game will pause.

Dick, in the 1st inning states that any rain should not make it to Cleveland and impact the game

Within minutes it starts looking like doomsday out there

I see that meteorology school has at least two graduates. 🙂

Sounds like it's pretty much confirmed this is Francona's last season managing.

Incredible career and a clear advantage over almost every other manager. HOFer for sure. By all accounts an Incredible human being as well.

The game will miss him.

Wonder how much of an impact it will have on the Guardians going forward. Always gets the most out of that team.

And funny. The broadcast booth awaits if he has any interest.

Something about this Guardian team. Not so much that they hung around as much as the Twins failing to take advantage of numerous opportunities to bury them. But, if the Twins leave Cleveland up 6 games without the tie breaker, I'm going to have at least some anxiety about the division. Win today and just end it.

When teams have good defenders, they tend to turn hits into outs. Cleveland has done it over and over in this series. So I don't think Cleveland pitchers are "lucky" Yeah they're lucky to have those guys on their team.

Huh? Giving up hard contact that ends up turning into outs and a much lower expected batting average is literally the definition of luck in baseball

And even if you try to shift the goal posts and say they are trying to throw meatballs cause they know their defenders are good

Last nights balls were not about defense. They were just LUCKY to be right at guys. Even Correas ball that Kwan got he actually misplayed it to begin with and almost let it go over his head

As for todays. Straw is still a good defender and his catch was insane. But his D is wayyyyyyyyyy down this year and to say that Williams wasnt lucky there is more insane than the catch. He had to full blow superman body slam to catch it.

Brennan and Calhoun with great plays. Neither are good defenders and also rarely even play the positions they were playing. Another was a liner at Williams.

So yeah, Id say lucky. Bibee and Francona said as much themselves last night. Not sure what Williams thoughs are.

Looks like that rain squall is just about out of the Cleve area. The game should resume soon. I'm not a meteorologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Something of a family trait?

Speaking of families, Mrs. IT and I were on a drive and got in a bit of a tiff. We passed some donkeys in the field, and I not too kindly said, "Relatives of yours?"

She said, "Yeah. In-laws."

Chief brought a point a few games ago about shifting when Duran is pitching.  LH batter had just hit a ground ball where the SS normally would be standing.  Is there a site that tracks how many outs are created or lost because of the shift.  With Duran FB is seems that there would be a lot of oppo field ground balls.  TIA

Luck has nothing to do with it. Lucky they were right at guys? So in other words I can say the hitter was lucky that he hit it 15' to the right or left or the fielder would have caught it. That's why stats like babip are useless. If everytime Correa or Kepler or any other Twins defender makes a good play and I say they were lucky, you're going to tell me the same thing, about how it's because they're extraordinary defenders.

I mean I literally just said, luck because of the exit velo and stats like expected batting averages. The pitches they were throwing were lucky to end up right at gloves because of the way of the solid contact.

The same way a hitter would be lucky if they kept weakly having their bat broken and it falls between 3 defenders or because a defender loses a ball in the sun.

If Correa makes an extroadinary play on a line drive I absolutely will say that Pablo Lopez got lucky. Because he factually would have if the ball was hit like the ones we have been hitting
