I haven’t watched much Minnesota minor league games but I follow Tom and read as much minor league reports  as I can. I was puzzled as to why guys like Chris Williams, Camargo, and Stevenson haven’t been promoted. Chris Williams has close 30 hrs and has been on tear and Camargo has been streaky too. Stevenson has been good and has major league experience. Why aren’t these guys being promoted?

For each, who are taking off the 26 and 40 man rosters? Also, Williams is very streaky and he is currently on a 5 for 36 streak with 13 SO's.

I think part of the challenge is the run scoring context of the International League can distort perception of performance. Chris Williams has a wRC+ of 118. Relative to the league Randy Dobnak’s ERA is better with an ERA+ of 121 which is close to Stevenson’s wRC+ of 123. Camargo is 93. I wouldn’t be advocating for Dobnak’s addition to the team.

The average OPS in the IL this year is above 800 and the average runs per game is greater than 11. That isn’t close to the run scoring context in the major leagues.

Pitchers miss their spots much more often in AAA and the hitters make them pay for the mistakes. For example, both Royce Lewis and Yunior Severino hit monster home runs tonight on pitches they would not often see at the major league level. That said, the Saints are entertaining and I believe the ABS and challenge system on balls and strikes gives batters some help too. The hitters do not need to protect the plate on pitches 2-6 inches out of the strike zone that have been called strikes by the umpire. MLB batters still need to attempt to protect those pitches.

Another comment already hit on the most common reason why some guys having decent years in the minors must wait. Available 26 and 40 person positions are just not available.

Hashim! Thanks so much for posing this question. I've wanted to do this as well.

I understand that the leagues are different, but it sure appears that Stevenson could have a BA, OBP & OPS higher than Gallo.

Like Hashim, I'm interested in hearing any additional data that suggests some of these players couldn't be helpful in MLB.

Thank you
