Why Toby Gardenhire?

Over the course of the last couple months there have been a number of posts stating that Toby Gardenhire could or should be the next manager of the Twins. The timelines suggested or predicted range from immediately to during the next few years.

I don't follow the Saints closely enough to form my own opinion about his abilities or potential to succeed as a major league manager. So I'm opening this thread to give people a forum to discuss his qualities as a manager and to give reasons why he should or should not be named manager if and when Rocco Baldelli's tenure ends. Please refrain from discussing Baldelli; this is intended strictly to discuss Gardenhire.
