You can forget about Manaea at #4...

If you were holding onto that thought, I thought there was no chance even before today, but he was removed from today's game before it even started due to injury...even if it's minor and unrelated to his arm, there is no way he is taken at #4...he needed a big start today and any other starts he got to try and move back up. I think he slides big time...

Interesting. He could do a Appel and not sign this year. Or some team in the 15-20ish range could all of a sudden get some real value at their spot in the draft.

I agree, particularly if he and Boras truely believe his injury is the reason for his lower velocity. The monetary difference between a top five pick and a pick in the teens is pretty high. I'd think going back to school is looking more and more likely.

The Twins can get him at #4 next year.

Those are only for injured college relievers, not starters. Geeze...... /s

I know you're trying to be cute but things like that drive me nuts. The Twins have had 9 sandwich picks since 04 and spent one on a college reliever (Bard). They spent 3 on HS starters, 3 on college starters and 2 on power bats.

During Bards junior year he was converted to a starter and was killing it. There was talk that he had solidified himself as a first rounder till he got injured and missed a lot of time. The fact he is still injured is definitely worrisome but he does have the talent to be a starter.

But why ruin another good pissy-fit by throwing facts out there?

well, I thought they took more than 1 college reliever last year, my bad. I totally am remembering wrong (though I was mistaken and not thinking only sandwich picks, so maybe I'm not wrong).*

* I thought Melotakis and Chargois were relievers, along with Bard....but again, I could be remembering wrong. And yes, I get that was round 2, not sandwich rounds.

You are right they took several relievers but not in the supplement round, there they took JO and Bard (who is going to be a starter). They melotakis (trying him as a starter) and chargois (pure reliever) in the second round. Duffey was a reliever but they are trying to convert him while keeping Jones as a relief pitcher.

So with Bard, Melo, Char, Duffey, and Jones they took 5 relief pitchers with three of them as planned starters. Bard, to my knowledge, was the only one before the draft that profiled as a true starter seeing he had multiple good starts before getting injured.
