This should never happen and never will.

First, see my reply to O_JB. Second, by my count there are at least 17 or 18 teams that could have weather issues during the early part of the regular season. It goes without saying that the math does not allow all those teams to have the first one or two or three weeks of the regular season on the road. Third, putting the 15 teams with the least favorable climate on the road for one or two or three weeks to start the regular season is unfair. To do that every year is *way* unfair.

I edited my reply. I’m talking about shortening the season. But it won’t happen because money.

You have no sympathy for a working person who had to burn vacation time for Thursday afternoon, most likely spent a minimum of $100+ on tickets and now cannot get Friday off and is now stuck all because the Twins moved the game for 10 degrees. Yet, you are going to play the feel sorry for me violins for (mostly) millionaires playing in cold weather?

As is almost always the case, there's no perfect solution. The best solution is the one that is the least unfavorable overall. Sometimes it works out well for a particular individual and sometimes it doesn't.

That is true. Plus shortening the season by two or three weeks means you'd be down to approximately 145 games. The schedule is difficult enough to set up as it is and this would make it even more difficult.

$$$>Players>Fans    Well, I guess that's the real truth to the matter. Money matters most, and since they got their money no matter what happens, they throw the players a bone for the slightly better playing conditions, and as for the fans, who cares? (if you believe, as I do, that 40,000 people having to rearrange their schedules to attend is more a PITA than wearing an extra layer).

Well, maybe somebody here will buy your tickets, since they’re still good for Friday. Or, with 40,000 plaintiffs, file a class action suit against the Twins and MLB.

I gather you are this person? I feel for the plight (I also have Thursday off but not Friday), but still think this is the right thing to do.

No, actually I was able to easily get Friday afternoon off and not unnecessarily use vacation on Thursday afternoon. I had to jump through a hoop to cancel parking for Thursday and purchase the same lot for Friday at the same price, so that was a wash except for the hassle. I know many that don't have the job flexibility that I do and would have been up a creek had they been in the same position.

You know … I don’t feel sorry for you one iota. You can afford to buy tickets and parking and have a good job that affords you flexibility to switch things up. So why all the whining? Honestly, whine some more. When you buy tickets, this is the risk, it always has been. Pretty sure there are disclaimers all over the place that spell this out. It’s Minnesota in April. How many home openers in the past 10 yrs have been moved or cancelled? How many for every team out there? It happens. It’s part of the risk when you buy a ticket. 10-15 degrees is a lot this time of year, for those sitting there for a couple hours and for the players on the field. It was the right decision and the Twins made it in a timely manner so those who could rearrange things had time to do so.
