Correa potentially available again

Why would Correa want to be here? The team has done absolutely nothing to improve itself for next year, and they were 6 games under .500 with him on the team. He, like many other free agents, don't want to play for a franchise that isn't committed to at least trying to appear like they want to win. Do the Pohlads really care enough? Highly doubtful. They're too busy with their high-end car dealerships and other investments for the uber wealthy. Building a long-term winning franchise isn't part of their game.

The front office, while not up to the quality of many others, does the best they can do with a tightwad owner controlling the purse strings. They have little or no flexibility to spend and build a winner for the long-term. They can only maneuver from year to year, and that isn't any way to run a baseball team.

I disagree with that, as my problems with the front office mostly stem from procedure, not budget. But to each their own.

You had 4 teams take over free agency this year, there isn’t much difference that could have happened this year.  It’s a lot easier to be an arm chair quarterback than actually be in the middle of it with the current dynamics. Even still this is the most depth we have had on the pitching front in over a decade.  Some will be coming back from rehab. We have some decent prospects coming up.  
 

For example let’s look at Milwaukee, other than a very nice trade they have done nothing in free agency.  We could go down the list.  
 

it’s not to say they are perfect. I am going to do some research on pitching.  I believe there has been very few pitching prospects since 2017 that have done anything in the MLB and most likely due to overall a poor prospect pool most likely won’t do much.  This comes down to can they develop a #1 pitcher.  They have proven they can develop #3 #4 type pitchers from the poor prospect pool, let’s see what comes from better prospects like Priellip.

He has stated several times he doesn't care about going over the tax threshold.

I'm also disappointed in the Brewers for their free agent moves...

Except for what you called "a very nice trade", which is more commonly referred to as "highway robbery".

Milwaukee pulled off the trade of the offseason with that move. Their free agency action has been wildly disappointing but... hell, they really pulled off something else by snagging Contreras AND Payamps for... Ruiz. Are you kidding me?

The front office would be silly to move on from Correa until he is officially signed. If they can get him at 10 yrs for $285 that is a steal. This FO knew the leg was something that would come up, hence the lower offer. They knew a 100% Correa was well over $300+ and the market proved that out. The Twins can afford this deal and still spend on other positions, namely SP and RP. A $285M contract now is cheap in 5 or 6 years when we potentially start to see his talents diminish.

It is a nice trade, but now you bring up something that is interesting, and that is teams trying to find players that will do well within the new rules and that is someone like Ruiz.  Ruiz has now been part of 2 trades for the Brewers, 1 that was trading away Hader which was viewed as one of the worst trades in franchise history and then the 3 way trade which you state is highway robbery. With Ruiz being a key piece in both deals I think ultimately in retrospect we can say he has more value for MLB teams than the casual fan thinks.  Teams see him having a lot of value with his bat and stealing bases.
