Don't get me wrong, terrible teams don't win 6 in a row -- but this team is nowhere near as talented as many are giving credit for. As for Pagan, I think at some point he's got to take on a different role in this 'pen. Like the low man on the totem pole role, only pitching in blowouts type stuff.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Pagán has two problems, walks and homers. So far, it’s been one or the other, but if both happen in the same outing, look out.

Lots of smoke and mirrors here, I’m not excited yet. We don’t comfortably beat teams and we have only a couple reliable relievers who undoubtedly will be overworked by july
Jerr Verified Member Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I think I'm smelling another walk off win.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Joe Smith should be available tomorrow since he only threw 3 pitches!
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 Well, it's about time the bats take care of some business.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 The pitching has done its job fine enough, time for the offense to scrape across another run against the Tigers.

Averaging 3 runs per game against KC and DET during this stretch, going against perhaps some of the worst pitching staffs in the AL, isn't encouraging. NYY, Tampa, LAA, HOU, TOR, and CHW are all light years better than theTwins as things stand today. It's not really even close.

And we expect the pitching to continue what it’s been doing? Yeah, no

Twins swept the white sox, and they're one of the worst offenses in the AL. I want to say only the Tigers and A's are worse in runs/game?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I do like the Tigers announcers when having occasion to hear 'em in the past. If youtube is using them, i approve of them mentioning Predator. Reminded me of the line "I ain't got time to bleed."

You can't honestly that the white sox are "light years" ahead of the Twins "as things stand today." That's why no power rankings have the White Sox higher than the Twins. They're 5.5 games back. That's a lot. I don't think the white sox end up going .500 this year either. But they need Lynn back and the offense needs to get going quick. Grandal is too good to be as bad as he's been.

We're definitely not as good as our record, but we are finding ways to win games somehow. We might even do it again today. A lot of lucky breaks our way so far. Things have a way of evening out and I'd expect us to slowly fall back towards .500. No one is tearing the cover off the ball and the pitching can't possibly continue the way it has. I do think we've got the makings of a solid team, but we're not in the same category as NY, Hou, TB, LA, Tor etc. I also think the White Sox will eventually catch and pass us.
