USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Ah, the summer doldrums. The dead period in a baseball season where absolutly nothing much interesting happens. The Twins, coming off an off day, travel down river to St Louis, losing approximately 400 feet of elevation along the way, to take on the Cardinals. I wish there were something, anything, that would give us a topic of discussion for tonight's game, but I got nothing. ZERO happened today, or yesterday, as far as I can tell. And let me tell you, I follow this stuff pretty closely, I'd KNOW if there were things to talk about. Anywhoo, it's J.O. Berrios on the bump for the Twins tonig....wait, wut? Mrs Chief just interrupted me with something about "a train, you idiot." or some such nonsense. I'll bet back to you after I see what she's about. In case she has me otherwise occupied, if someone would be kind enough to post lineups, it'd be appreciated. Finish up July strong, boys, and get back after it in August. I believe Happ gets the start tomorrow.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Chief, have you heard the news? There is some trade talk regarding Nelson Cruz. Your thoughts?

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I really wish they could have done that deal during the game, and have Gant come in from the Cards' pen......
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 But it is good to be Happ-less.
twinfan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Top of the 8th and the Twins have the bases loaded. Happ comes in and strikes out Kepler to end the threat. Knowing how our season has evolved, that would not surprise me.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I am baffled at Jax getting the start. He's, ugh. Mind. Boggling. Make him a RP and see if he can do that. Ugh. Just. Ugh. Any young guy without multiple starts THIS YEAR has a near zero or less chance of starting the year in MN next season. Get the AAA guys and B* (I really need to learn his name) up some this year. Or, kiss next year goodbye.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 TWINS: Polanco 2B Rooker LF Donaldson 3B Garver C Larnach RF Sanó 1B Gordon CF Simmons SS Jax P

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Don't worry, Chief. Off days don't provide much to talk about. I understand why you don't have much material to work with.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Sheesh, what a day. I’ve been going non-stop since 8am and kinda forgot there’s still a baseball game yet to be played.

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Simmons should have gone on waivers after the trade deadline passed. No need for him or Cave to take up a roster spot anymore. Start playing for next year.

The pitchers deserve some defense behind them.

Just posted this in the roster moves thread: Tallying up today's moves... Berrios, Happ, and Robles traded, opening up 3 40 man spots. Griffin Jax and Charlie Barnes have been called up to fill the two spots in the rotation, and John Gant will take Robles' spot. Edgar Garcia was optioned to AAA. This should leave the Twins with 1 open spot on the 40 man with Gant and Garcia taking up spots.

Try Gordon at SS for the rest of the season give him a chance, maybe he fails but give him the chance to fail don't just assume it.

RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Team looks lethargic. Eyes staring off into space, jogging, instead of running. not a drop of sweat (St. Louis in July-impossible).
