NoCal Provisional Member Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I believe that Brian Sweeney is out there - non tendered by the Red Sox. Can play any of the outfield positions, pretty good left handed hitter.

beckmt Verified Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I think they ought to treat Hicks as Puckett, Hunter, Span and the rest. Bring he up and let him play.
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Indians signed LHP Scott Kazmir to a minor league contract.
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 White Sox signed RHP Jeff Gray to a minor league contract. Gray had a rough go of it with the Twins in 2012, compiling a 5.71 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 26/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings of work. He may have a chance to compete for a job in the White Sox bullpen
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Giants signed OF Cole Gillespie to a minor league contract. The 28-year-old is coming off a strong season at Triple-A Reno where he hit .308/.390/.494 with 13 homers, 66 RBI and 11 stolen bases. The former third round pick possesses a nice blend of power and speed and should compete for a reserve outfield job with the defending champions.
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Dodgers signed INF Dallas McPherson to a minor league contract. The 32-year-old former top prospect hit .265/.344/.490 with 17 homers and 62 RBI in 81 games at the Triple-A level in 2012. He's always shown the propensity to mash the baseball, and could get a look from the Dodgers if the unproven Luis Cruz struggles early on

Maverick Provisional Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 To rack up the post count I suppose....
snepp Verified Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 [h=1]Man Utd v Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo will not celebrate goals[/h] Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says he will not celebrate if he scores against Manchester United. United will face Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League at the Bernabeu on 13 February and then at Old Trafford on 5 March following Thursday's draw. "I won't celebrate if I score," Ronaldo, who spent six years with the Reds, told Spanish newspaper AS.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I am currently blogging about this and other things and should be done by tomorrow, but here is some of that: Given how Terry Ryan has gone on to approach the starting rotation for next year, it is apparent that there is no need whatsoever to rush prospects like Hicks and Arcia at all before June 1st, for control reasons, and perhaps later for development reasons. With the new CBA and the increase in the number of super two, wouldn't that push back the June 1 date significantly. This is one of the areas of the new CBA that makes it more difficult for small market teams. The Twins, however, should view themselves as mid market and make decisions based on baseball readiness.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Is this becoming a thread where if you can't say something to the topic you pst irrelevance? They are going after Top Gun for posting breaking news in random threads. I also liked the "MacPherson signing with the Dodgers" post. I may not have known that unless Top Gun posted it in that spot. I don't spend a lot of time looking for minor league moves so his post was convenient for me. I just think of Top Gun as that Scroll on the bottom of the TV screen. It's not the actual program but... Sometimes something interesting off topic comes across.
