Good evening and welcome back to the always fun Twins Daily Game Thread! Get ready for some exciting baseball action along with a few laughs. I think Maeda is going to throw a real gem tonight. Sitting with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 2.65, Maeda is looking like a great addition to our rotation this year.

I apologize for posting this late today but I got stuck on a conference call at work and couldn't get them to hang up. By the way, tomorrow I'm turning 49 years old.  Somehow I just woke up one day and realized I'm going to be almost 50! Where did the time go? If any of you have hit 50 does it feel weird? I probably have more years behind me than I do in front of me (hopefully not but that whole Covid thing is hanging over our heads)...

Anyway, tomorrow I turn 49. I'm going to celebrate by grilling something on my Big Green Egg, toss back a few cocktails and watch the Twins game on TV with my wife and my two remaining kids (who are heading back to college Friday) the other one already left for Virginia Tech. The Twins usually win on my birthday too, so we have that going for us!

Let's go Twins!

Happy Birthday Eve!

The logic of Garver leading off escapes me. I didn't even particularly like it last year when he could hit, but this year?

Here's hoping for 7 innings from Maeda! Maybe I'm being hopeful, but we need to see our starters going deep soon.

And yes, batting Garver leadoff makes no sense. He's currently not the threat he was last year, and putting a guy who's striking out at a 50% clip leadoff is a nice gift to the opposing starting pitcher.

Congrats on the upcoming 49th!

I have it on good authority that you can be 49 for a long time.

And yeah glad you escaped from those sticky conference calls in time for this.

Thanks for the intro!

Yelich doesn’t catch Cave’s double even if he saw it off the bat. But Sano certainly does not try to score if he had.

Good thing we're adding on runs, since recent history tells us that we are unlikely to score after this inning!

Errors are officially useless. I know we have known that, but calling that Garver batted ball a hit is ridiculous. That is an error at high school.

Also, Hip Hip!

This years stats are all meaningless anyway, if somebody bats .400, it won’t really count.

Yeah, great RISP hitting and a bit of luck! I was getting sick of scoring only by HRs. Now let's get 7 innings from Maeda and add on some more runs after the 3rd inning!

The game has been on but I wasn't paying attention even during the 5-run inning. Until I heard Dick's call on the Sano home run. I rewound to look at it, and it is literally awesome to see someone big and strong and talented doing that to a ball pitched by a major league pitcher. You didn't need to see the flight of the ball. Just watching him swinging and hitting the ball was all that was necessary.
