insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Tough night for Berrios. Can't be giving up a 3 run lead like that. Twins will have to continue to scrap to get this one in the 'W' column. (again, don't let Castro bat with ducks on the pond again please)
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 And I don't think anyone, including me, thinks he should be a primary catcher. But to say he shouldn't be back as a backup, or that he has performed poorly this year as one suggested, just doesn't make sense to me.Aas a catcher, get it now ?
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Read the comments about him here.what comments?
Blake Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 May I strongly suggest you not looking away?I'm using airport wifi. Not exactly secure so, I'll have to re-image this computer when I get back to work, just to make sure I didn't pick up anything nasty.

But to say he shouldn't be back as a backup, or that he has performed poorly this year as one suggested, just doesn't make sense to me.It doesn't make sense that someone would suggest that a .648 OPS and a negative WAR is performing poorly? You're essentially saying that no player in MLB has performed poorly then.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Castro has a slightly above league average OPS for the season. That's league average for all positions, not just catcher. In what way is a league average bat a "total liability"?You're right of course. His second half has been poor however. His OPS since the All-Star break is .600 and he's hitting below the Mendoza line--.193.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 yesterday someone stated that the Twins have won 42 games by 4 runsWow, that's less than a tenth of a run a game. I had no idea baseball scored that way!
insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Where? Seriously, the guy has done everything asked of him and more... both with the glove and with the bat - who in their right mind would find fault that he doesn't hit the ball over the fence as often as Miggy or Boomstick? There is a dedicated article about him...and there the critics ran wild. Mostly that there is no way he is a .340 hitter. Well this year he is and no one knows what next year will bring. Lets not hang him before he has a few seasons under his belt.
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 May I strongly suggest you not looking away?I'd like to also suggest the Twins getting some better quality starting pitching. But that can't happen until next season at the earliest.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 They walked Wade. Can they do that?
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 yesterday someone stated that the Twins have won 42 games by 4 runsthat's amazing...i knew they played a lot of close games but winning 42 games by 0.095238095238095 runs each is truly out of this world
insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 as a catcher, get it now ?actually no, I don't
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 I'm using airport wifi. Not exactly secure so, I'll have to re-image this computer when I get back to work, just to make sure I didn't pick up anything nasty.here I always thought it was the recycled air in the plane that made me sick and now I learn all I had to do was re-image my computer good to know

tvagle Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Wow, that's less than a tenth a run a game. I had no idea baseball scored that way!Ninja'd...but in my defense I was doing the math
Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Gotta be honest not a fan of this team right know.
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Did you adjust for inflation during the season?yes????
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2019 Author Posted September 22, 2019 Wow, that's less than a tenth a run a game. I had no idea baseball scored that way! yeah, I worded that poorly....
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 We stranded Wade at 1st. That must have been unbearable...
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Brad Hand pitching for Cleveland--in the sixth inning.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Hopefully, tvagle and I don't get penalized for doing math in a game thread.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 yes????Well done! I'm pretty sure a good run in the play offs is worth more than in the regular season...
Bomba2026 Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 The Duffer is on the mound.....Beer please. Just kidding Tyler.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Hopefully, tvagle and I don't get penalized for doing math in a game thread. There are penalties? I'm trying to imagine what those would be.... You have to re read every Mauer thread?

I read the first page of comments and they were very supportive.
Blake Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 yeah, I worded that poorly....Well, where I sit, you worded it perfectly!
tvagle Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Well done!I'm pretty sure a good run in the play offs is worth more than in the regular season...I will have to check but I still think a run is worth the same in the playoffs as the regular season
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2019 Author Posted September 22, 2019 Hopefully, tvagle and I don't get penalized for doing math in a game thread. In this case I should be penalized for making you two do math.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Hopefully, tvagle and I don't get penalized for doing math in a game thread.Math is its own penalty (and reward... funny how that works)
