Honestly, what did Rocco hope to accomplish by bringing Romo into the game? He was obviously going to go to Rogers when the lefty came up. Why use them both?

 

Splits are indifferent for Rogers. No need to do anything but go to your closer.

I'm not a huge fan of 'mixing and matching', but Rocco likes playing with his toys.  I'd have handed the ball to Rogers and say, 'You're my closer for a reason.  You got the ninth, buddy.'

this was a big win. It was the last game in hand and we didn't waste it. 5 games up with 12 to play. To win 100 we need to go 8-4. I kinda see us going 6-6 but that would get the job done. Indians would have to go 11-1 just to tie us.

Berrios was great. The guys used singles and doubles to get the win. Cave and Rosario had poor nights but the rest picked them up. Arraez is something else isn't he!!!

 

Gotta say, our two bullpen acquisitions at the deadline have not been stellar. Dyson a complete waste and Romo has been so-so at best. However Duffey and May have been huge 2nd half pleasant surprises and Rogers has settled in to the closer role pretty decently.

 

A win at home! Wow! Meanwhile in a battle of 100 loss teams, O's split 4 games with the Indians next opponent Detroit. Would be nice if the Tigers could get at least one against Cleveland.

Just checking...Romo has allowed runs in 6 of his 22 Twins appearances, which most would say is not horrible. He has given up runs in 3 of his last 6 trips. I'm sure Twins will continue to use him regularly. He is a gamer with lots of energy. Gotta like that.
