I think I would have rested Rogers extra for Atlanta and Cleveland. Seven games next week.

 

I think it was better to use our most dependable guy to get the win today instead of sweating out the 9th with Harper or May.

Today was a real feel-good story, watching that young man Smelzer win his first MLB game. Good Good. I hope we get to see a few more like this.

In fact, Counterpoint was one of my favorite classes. Our final was fugue writing ... we had to write 2-part and 3-part fugues. I still have them somewhere.

I get what you're saying, but Roger's arm is bound to fall off at his current rate of appearances plus the times he's warmed up in the bullpen and not used- as apparently the only one Rocco trusts to close out the close ones- he's going to end up with arm fatigue. As of now, he's only 17 innings less than his career high set last year- and it's only the 3rd of August.

 

And look how well Rogers has pitched his last 4 games.... AFTER.... getting 7 days off from his previous last appearance vs. the Yankees.

 

It would be nice to being able to have Rogers at full effectiveness in October by giving him a few more 7 day respites in August and September.
