Our starting pitchers are workhorses?

This shocked me. 

 

According to fangraphs, the Twins starting pitchers are second in total innings pitched* but only 5 innings behind first place Houston, despite playing three fewer games. Our starters are averaging 5 and 2/3 innings per start which is the best (although it's a basic tie with Cleveland). 10 years ago, the best team averaged 6 and 1/3 inning per start. I've been complaining that our starters aren't going long enough but they are going longer than everyone else. I'm stunned.

 

The game is changing a lot. (I'm also not sure how fangraphs is measuring the openers in this manner).

About the only guys you could consider workhorses in today's MLB are Bauer, Scherzer, and Verlander (Kluber would be when not felled by a freak injury).

 

There are really only a handful of other guys that could be if given the opportunity, which is sad.
