Sano's pitch recognition seems ok, he just has really struggled to make contact on off-speed pitches in the strike zone.

It's annoying how much Gibson nibbles on the corners

 

I'd be more comfortable if his misses were closer to the strike zone. There have been way too many at bats where he was ahead 1-2 and then wasted a couple of pitches that were not close enough to get the hitter to swing.
