Is there a reason that Rochester continues to employ the "opener" pitcher scenario?

The last two times the "opener" has been lit up for 3 runs and the "starter" has come in and pitcher well.

Because it's  just a matter of time before we see the Twins do it in the big leagues.

This is such a Twins thing. Is there any other team in the league that has such a ridiculous development policy? Carlos Correa had three birthdays in one season, if I recall correctly, and yet here are the Twins insisting that their players age one year at a time. Ridiculous.

Age has nothing  to do with  why Rortvedt is in Ft. Myers.  Development is. And comparing people to the Correa timeline isn't fair... I did it with Royce Lewis the other day...there it can be fair since they are both #1 overall picks. Most others aren't on anywhere near that kind of timeline. Has little  if anything to do with age. Does anyone think it was a bad thing that Rortvedt started the season back in Cedar Rapids?

I'm all for this. It seems to make total sense.

Even as young kid, I remember wondering about the current paradigm.

When playing the Angels, for example, in any one given game, how are you most likely to win? Contain Mike Trout. How are you most likely to keep Trout hitless? Throw your 3-4 best pitchers available at him, don't let him face the same guy twice, change the location from which the call leaves the pitchers hand as much as possible.

Same for nearly any other good team. If you hold Francisco Lindor hitless in a series against Cleveland, you'll probably win it (or at least make it much more likely).

They'd definitely need to figure out a way to not slow the game down any more, but I think we'll see this.

Psst, Seth, I think 70charger was just playing along with my joke that Rortvedt can't age any faster than 1 year at a time, and perhaps just barely maybe possibly could be he was satirizing certain opinions while he was at it. I think he's on your side in this. :)

Looking forward to seeing Andrew Vasquez, the big (6-6, 228) lefty reliever at Chattanooga. Career minor league era of 1.56 in 99 games. Whip of 1.12 and over 13 KO's per 9. Don't know how hard he throws, but he sure has gotten results. Hopefully his stuff plays as he moves up.

Fastball touches 90, 91.

Slider is tremendous...

Yep, satire alert.

Seth, I know you have a lot to read and probably skim, so no worries. Thanks for all you do.

I have a modest proposal: all satirists should be fricasseed and fed to the wealthy.

Too late.

That was already on page 428 of the most recent tax law that nobody bothered to read.

Except me, of course.
