ESPN Article - hyped players running out of time

Among the position players on this list, the career OPS+ values are:  58, 76, 80, 80 (Buxton), 91...and Sano's 123.  Having said that, the offensive standard for Sano to have star-like value relative to these other guys will have to be higher, since most these others are catchers, center-fielders, or shortstops (other than Swihart at this point).

It seems to me that, since returning from the hamstring, Sano is actively trying to make some adjustments in his approach at the plate.  Sometimes, when that step if finally made, there is a step backwards before sustainable improvement.  We'll see.

I confess, I didn't read the article. Is it fair for me to comment? Maybe not. But I have seen so many super-talented players who struggle and then find themselves, either with their original club or their next team, that I still preach patience.

Comparable or not, Go-Go Gomez looked like a mistake and then had a nice stretch of great seasons after being traded. (All time great Hunter struggled his first couple of seasons). And how many years has the whole Ortiz issue been a thorn in the side of Twins fandom?

Granted, at some time talent and expectation has to be realized. But expectation vs patience is a difficult road to follow. From what we have seen from Buxton and Sano, do we really want to throw in the towel at this point?

A little more time and experience, a little more maturity, a little better health and no off the field distractions, there is just so much here. Giving up would be a huge mistake at this point.
