Except Odorizzi was showing zero signs of trouble thru his 5 innings so there would have been no reason to take him out of the game when the 3rd time came around.

Here's a rabbit trail question -- who wants to represent the Greater Twin Cities Area Chamber of Commerce and offer a few suggestions of things to do while up there for a few days in early June?

  • Not art museum people, but do enjoy architecture.
  • Work's been pretty hectic and my school-teacher wife just finished her year, so good walking trails for a couple 50-year-olds or good places to sit and enjoy a good book wouldn't be a bad thing
  • Not averse to driving an hour or so outside the city, particularly if the drive is scenic.
  • Barbecue, seafood, Mexican, Italian, burgers, pizza

(I mean, besides Target Field, of course.)

Great clutch hit by Escobar, now we've got a tie game! I do wish he wouldn't have gotten himself out at 2nd, though, he could have taken the lead with another hit.

I'm OK with Odorizzi starting the 6th despite the stats because he was only around 80 pitches. 

 

But... The Segura home run should have got a right hander up in the pen... Not a left hander because Seattle had 3 Righties back to back to back. 

 

Molitor must have got Duke up with the expectation of Odorizzi polishing off those right handers and Duke would be ready for Seager. 

 

Didn't work.

I think Adrianza has looked mediocre, but maybe Fangraphs tells a different story

Fangraphs has him ranked 16th out of 44 SSs (min. 40 PAs) at +1.7 Def (whatever that means).

 

Escobar is ranked 36th at -0.6.

What am I missing here? If Molitor was going to pinch run for Sano, why did he wait until Rosario singled him over to second?

 

My Guess is that Molly probably felt that Sano should have made third on the single. Sano standing on 2nd may have been a wake up call to pinch run someone without a steel rod in his leg.

I see good arguments on both sides of this. At the moment those arguments are being swept away by the sweet joy of being back in this game.

Maybe, but that replay looked like Sano would have been toast if he'd tried for third.

 

It worked out to our benefit. I won't complain that Molitor maybe lucked into that one.

If Molitor would have started Trevor Hildenberger in the first. Brought Odorizzi in the 2nd let him face 23 batters and then Pressly followed by Bruce Sutter. It would have worked out better.

Inside the park homer. The Mariners outfield would have been in shock to see Buxton hit one to the wall.
