Twins should fire Molitor

That vote is pretty much given to the manager of the team that did best compared to before season projections. It means about as much as the gold gloves do.

I'm no molitor fan... as a manager. I would not have extended him. But now that they have, he should get this year. Then decide again, one way or the other.

Good god I hated to like this post.

There are times when I disagree with Molitor but I absolutely defend his right to not think like I do.

Right Now... I'm not sure what I would do if I was the manager.

There were way too many fundamental mistakes made for a team that is trying to get themselves out of a 1-9 skid.

Walks from the starting pitcher... Rosario laying up on a catch-able ball was inexcusable, Totally blowing a fly ball in the 9th to boot. Garver passed ball, Mauer chasing a ground ball all the way to where Dozier was standing.

He has too many players that are in need of a message.

He does. But some of that goes back a long time. He has been so deferential to veterans that they know are no repercussions for sloppy or ineffective play. It rubs off all the way down the roster. If youth and high school players can see that in a manager, the MLB guys certainly can.

You don’t fire a guy for having one bad month after his team overperformed for an entire season.

Well some of us thought it was a bad idea to extend him in the first place, so this basically just strongly reinforces our prior views that he is a mediocre manager.

Firing Molitor won't solve anything. They need to get Buxton back. Grossman is killing them on D. They need Dozier/Rosario/LoMo to start hitting. They need to get Sano back. They need to start playing Garver ahead of Castro more. They need to re-organize the bullpen. Etc. Getting Buxton/Sano/Santana back will help. Until then, the pitching needs to stop sucking.

Aren't some of those problems - players not playing up to expectations - things that a manager is supposed to be able to take care of? And things like playing Garver more (or moving Rodney out of the closer spot) aren't those things a manager supposed to take care of?

Yeah, it's not Molly's fault that Santana, Polanco and Buxton are out. But there are a lot of problems that might be lessened with a better manager.

I would think we can all agree there are many facets of the job to be considered in determining an individuals relative merit as a manger.  Do you think we have adequate access / information / insight to assess Molitor's relative ability as a a manager?  My team is doing a staff assessment for a division of a well-known entity right now.  I can assure you the process being used is much deeper than would be possible as a baseball fan assessing managerial  competence.

Should we consider ....

We started the season without Santana

The potential impact of all of the cancellations early in the season

We lost Buxton early

Rodney sucks!

Polanco got himself suspended

Logan Morrison forgot how to hit

Rosario regressed

Sano refuses to attempt to do anything but pull the ball 500ft.
