When Twinsnorth says it's spelled Tronno, who am i to question local custom? Who's to say Tom Horton's better than Dunkin Donuts?

Speaking of which, Rumor reached me. That when asked if they had anything to declare, here were a few of the answers...

Mr. Gee: I'm gonna win a game.

Mr. Garver: I'm gonna hit a homer.

Mr. Kepler: I'm gonna hit the cutoff man.

Mr. Escobar: I'm gonna score!

Mr. Buxton: I'm going to swing a bat.

Mr. Vargas: I'm gonna walk.

Mr. Dozier: I shall hit and run.

Mr.Mauer: We will win the world series...

not saying when, or for who, but yeah.

Customs agent: No, i meant in your luggage.

Speaking of world series...

While awaiting a parade in New England this morning, one of the local high school bands was chatting with us, and mentioned a skit the incorporated into their show, reenacting the final out of the 2004 world series. Apparently people like being the batter, but they have to draw lots to assign the pitcher and the person who plays our Fort Myers Manager. I still get a kick out of that whole baseball situation...

Anyway, my apologies my baseball acumen ain't up to snuff, perhaps one of youse can pick up the slack. I still hope we play good ball, and perhaps even win, one day maybe to tame that wild card...

Without further i-do...

For those not paying close attention, MLB is holding a so-called "players weekend" (because major league baseball players have a tough life, or something) and the uniforms are different and players were invited to put nicknames or other names on the backs of their uniforms.

So here is the alternative lineup today. Can you guess who's who?

2B DOZ

DH MAUER

SS CHULO

LF BANDIDOU

CF BUCK

RF ROZYCKI

1B LITTLE PAPI

C GARVER

3B EL DE LA PICA

P: G MONEY

This Players Weekend business is a joke with the majority of the uniforms that are out there for this.  The Yankees looked like beer-league softballers in whatever it was they were wearing last night.  The Brewers and Padres had this garish yellow in their uniforms that you don't find anywhere else in their color scheme throughout the year.  The Twins had more of an orange tint than red in their jerseys (though the hats did appeal a little bit).  I'm neutral on the nicknames or the socks or the two-tone bats or the custom shoes...don't care about those, though the Yankees should NEVER have names on the back of their jerseys.  I know I'm not the demographic that MLB is trying to reach by doing this but it still looks pretty sophomoric.

OK, rant over....Kill Canada.

I'm getting me one of those red hats with the logo inside the outline of the state.

I generally agree. To me it's MLB trying to be like the NFL and its color rush promotion, and I don't think the NFL is the role model MLB should emulate.

It's an interesting idea (at least on the drawing board) and I'm not opposed to trying something once or twice. They could probably mothball it after this.

Interesting I heard on the radio that Kepler is considering changing his name permanently. Not sure if that's part of the joke or he is serious. It would be quite an adjustment to call him that new name.

What does the name signify?

No killing Canada, not even the geese.

Canada geese are a serious nuisance in urban parks. I support continuing what is currently done. Round them up periodically and let them loose in rural areas farther north. That way they can contribute to the cycle of life by becoming fox food.

I generally agree, but I think the length of an MLB schedule allows for more of this kind of stuff. In a 16 game schedule, not so much. Keep it under 10% of games and it's fun. It's a fine line.

I never knew foxes could fly.

Lucky to get out of that after letting a 130 hitter lead off the inning with a hit.

Time to put guys on base now, boys.

Anyone who has ever stumbled into a park lawn or sidewalk covered with goose crap will agree with the nuisance rating. I say round 'em up in the fall (saving some for breeding stock), slaughter the blighters and donate the food to old folks homes, veteran's hospitals, soup kitchens, etc just in time for Christmas. Better to feed humans than foxes.

AN ESCOBOMB!!!!

I can see why Estrada's numbers have been terrible the last 2 1/2 months.  A lot of meatballs getting tossed up there.
