yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 If the Twins were going to option out Melville after the game they would've just called him up as the 26th man instead of optioning Turley and recalling him as the 26th man, So it looks like they view Melville as the 5th starter for now. Gee is most likely out of options and even if not due to his service time he can refuse the assignment.I would say Melville's chances of being on the roster tomorrow are pretty low. Gee may or may not remain in the rotation. I would certainly hope that Falvine understands that carving up the current White Sox lineup is substantially less of an accomplishment than pitching as well as Slegers did against the Diamondbacks. My opinion hasn't changed. Melville out. DFA, option, whatever. Bring up Slegers to start tomorrow. Gibson to the pen.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I guess I don't get that sequence of moves. Even if the Twins option Gee and/or Melville out after today (which they are almost certain to do), there is no one eligible on the 40 man to come up other than Randy Rosario and Aaron Slegers. Boshers still has 9 days and now Turley will have 10 after today. A possible move would be to bring up Slegers to start tomorrow and demote Gibson to the pen. I'm in favor of that move. Unless they phantom DL Perkins I suppose. That would allow Turley to stay up.I'd say it's about 70% that Slegers starts Saturday. Just a question of if they want a reliever or position player for 3-4 days or if they just call him back tomorrow.

They already have an open slot for Slegers on Saturday. If Gibson is his regular self tomorrow. he swaps roles with Gee or Gonsalves

He either makes that start and is on short rest Saturday or he doesn't make it and goes 10 days between starts. Neither is ideal. Slegers should start tonight in Chicago. It solves all the problems.
