One interpretation is that the tactical field-management of the available bullpen roster has been adept. The construction of that bullpen roster, on the other hand...Agree. I know there are individual game complaints, but big picture, the coaching staff getting as much as they have (in wins and losses) this year with this group of relievers is pretty astounding.
Suicide Skweez Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Well Breslow's gone, so that's good. Agree that Boshers needs to go back to Rochester as does Pressly. I'm comfortable with Rogers and Kintzler despite two bad outings by them respectively and they should continue to do a solid job out of the pen. Outside of that though, there really is no dependability. Duffey is off and on, not sure what we're getting from Hildenberger yet, and no other pieces are even viable right now, so there's definitely a case to be made for a Romero call-up or a modest addition at a low price through the trade market.
Platoon Verified Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 My question on today's BP management was mostly about Kintzler to hold an already one run deficit. He got 4 outs yesterday, and throwing again today does one of two things. Precludes him from throwing tomorrow night, or risks him being rode hard by a manager who is known for that practice? The only reason I could imagine bringing in Kintlzer down one, was that they consider the Colon game tomorrow night a throw away. Plus, is it just my imagination, or do closers seem to perform poorly in these hold em close assignments. I seem to remember Perkins get hammered in those types of situations.
