  1. That AB right there shows that while Sano has a lot of raw ability and potential, he has a long ways to go maturity wise when it comes to his hitting tendencies. Still has a really hard time making consistent contact and picking out smart pitches to swing at.
  2. Torii: "Do you lay out in a speedo and tan? Woo, that's a bad visual, your wife might like it though". Dick: "No I do not". Torii: So you're saying you don't get as dark as me? Dick: "Not nearly..." Love the awkwardness of the whole ordeal!
  3. I know it's the life of a baseball player and a fringe major leaguer, but it's absolute **** what they are making Vargas go through. That's a tough life to live, and he's not able to settle down anywhere for a year and have some stability not to mention a few weeks. Guess that's what you sign up for though when you're a pro. I do get it, it just doesn't seem fair to Kennys. Anyway, on a more positive note Bartolo has just been hummin along recently and I absolutely love it. It's one thing to clog up a spot, its another thing to be streaking together several quality outings in a row for a team that like it or not is in contention in mid-august (although I highly doubt they make the playoffs). Falvine took a gamble and honestly, I kinda like it. I like Big Sexy. I'll ride with the wave for now, but obviously at Colon's age there's not much room for consistent sub-par play otherwise it makes since to just have a younger guy get some development in instead. We'll see what happens going forward.
  4. Slegers would've been a viable option. I'm not predicting how he'd do against ML hitting because none of us really know but it would've made some since if he got the call. But... I just don't get all the clamoring for Jorge to get another shot. You're right, A) He's been bad when he made his starts with the big club, and B ) He's gotten very lucky in AA. He gets shellacked, and it seems like he's always giving up 8/9/10 hits per game while getting relatively lucky with the earned runs. I really think AAA is his ceiling as a decently effective starter.
  5. I don't care what any on here say, Polanco is not good. He does not deserve to be on the team as of right now and he has no option. He needs to be riding the pine for the rest of this year and come back next season with a clear head for a last tryout.
  6. The facts quote right here that you mentioned are all big issues I also see with Molitor. He means alot to Minnesota baseball and he's a good guy and all but he simply hasn't been a good manager for this ball club. Time to move on after the season.
  7. Watson is a 20 yr old lefty with some size. Holds a 6-4 record on the season with a 4.35 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 18 starts for the National's Low-A affiliate this year. Averages a bit more than a strikeout per inning. What does everything think of the return? Not an overwhelmingly exciting prospect IMO, but considering Kintzler is a FA in a few months, not bad return at all.
  8. Dick just asked how Garcia compares to Santiago. He needs to be given a one month suspension from FSN for that, I just threw up. On that topic, has anyone ever watched a FSN televised game in the past 5 years in which Dick has not been present? I feel like he hasn't missed a single game in years, and kudos to his dedication, but does he have any interests in life outside of broadcasting Twins baseball? Serious question. And to be honest, after listening to him and Bert on the air for lord knows how long now, it'd be nice if Dick would start to take as many games off as Bert does. I get sick of listening to their same old lingo over and over again.
  9. That's a solid no. Gotta give something to get something... Why would we give the Yanks a solid, controllable starting pitcher (a position of dire need on this team btw) if they aren't willing to give up even one of their better starting pitching prospects (Sheffield and Adams) in return. With the names suggested to be off the table, it's an absolute no brainer for the Twins FO, no deal.
  10. Yep, wasn't Granite's fault at all...but thats a ball that Buxton absolutely catches.
  11. Yeesh, Kepler's had a really tough time of it lately. Hope he breaks out of the slump soon!
  12. Dodgers have won like 46 consecutive games when they've taken a lead at any point in the game. Putting two and two together, that means that's all she wrote for this one. Twins spiraling now to the point where the Jaime acquisition may not make much of a difference anyways.
  13. Dozier follows up a bad AB with a lackadaisical play in the field. Sure he's good for a HR here and there, but his lack of effort this season has been concerning. He's a piece I'd like to see dealt at some point in the next 12 months.
  14. Or lifting the bat off his shoulder. The terrifying thing was that Dozier looked just as bad in his at bat as Colon did! Yikes.
  15. Well Breslow's gone, so that's good. Agree that Boshers needs to go back to Rochester as does Pressly. I'm comfortable with Rogers and Kintzler despite two bad outings by them respectively and they should continue to do a solid job out of the pen. Outside of that though, there really is no dependability. Duffey is off and on, not sure what we're getting from Hildenberger yet, and no other pieces are even viable right now, so there's definitely a case to be made for a Romero call-up or a modest addition at a low price through the trade market.
  16. Going to spare myself and go catch a workout this afternoon. This game is unbearable to watch.
  17. I wish Molitor would actually teach these guys how to bunt. Its clear as day he doesn't. Its not a "lost art"...its fundamental. Everyone should be able to lay down a decent bunt and its pathetic that most of them can't.
  18. Robbie Backwards K Grossman. Always good for one of those a game.
  19. Kinda weird how Grossman always seems to act like its an 0-0 count when there's 2 strikes on him...
  20. I'm a fan of the move if we aren't giving up a priority prospect in the deal. Solid #4 starter that should only help out the rotation. Good example of cautious buying.
  21. So... us Minnesotans are, by nature, too nice to speak bluntly. We like to beat around the bush and spare each other's feelings. In honor of this series, I'll speak bluntly as a New Yorker would: Polanco absolutely sucks. No reason he should be playing ahead of EA or EE.
  22. It continues to be unbelievable how many guys the Twins leave on base or in scoring position. They will continue to lose games and keep on their skid unless they figure out how to produce in clutch situations and get guys home.
  23. SF up 3-1 with runner on 2nd, 1 out in bottom of the 4th. Could be double good news tonight!
  24. Beautiful pieces of hitting by the two Eddies. Would be nice to add an insurance run or two here for BK though!
