stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 A pretty poor performance all-around except for Willingham's big fly. Duensing made more good pitches than he will get credit for, and I do agree with Joe C in his pre-game column. The Twins missed on making some plays and the result was predictable. Tomorrow is the rubber game. I wonder if Plouffe starts again or they give him a day off.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Mauer and Willingham with a little demo for those who insist RBI are meaningless. The RBI statistic is still useless, it's what leads to them that possesses meaning. That hasn't changed. Theyre both important. When they start adding up how many reached first base at the end of the game rather than how many crossed home plate, I'll change my opinion. RBIs are important. They're also a conditional stat that a player doesn't have much control over so they're also kind of meaningless. If that makes sense. It's important that a player drives in runs consistently but that stat should not be used to judge a player's effectiveness.
