TwinsWolvesLynxBlog Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Twins are in for a tough one tonight against David Price. Like most great pitchers we will have to get to him early.
Highabove Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Against David Price, Span, and Doumit will have the night off, but we do have Butera catching Blackburn. I will convince myself, that I am going to the park to see the Rays and Joe Maddon.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Wow, all-star line-up tonight.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 WTF....walk the dogs & came back & Nick gave up 3runs already. Thought Butera was catching....what happenned to him??
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Butera in ...Doumit out vs David Price. Hmmmm have talked about Gardy 'not trying' to win. This is a decent example.
usanamn Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 We need to do some serious changes big time in our staffing pitching
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Let's see if Anderson whispered some magic between innings since Butera obviously idn't in the 1st.
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Masty, 1-1 in his career agasnt price. He's growing on me as a quality 4th outfielder.
TwinsWolvesLynxBlog Provisional Member Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 At this point which is worst, paying Blackburn 4.5 million or Nishi 3 million?
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 At this point which is worst, paying Blackburn 4.5 million or Nishi 3 million?Good question, I guess I would say that Backie pitched well enough for us in the past to deserve a contract, maybe not the 4.5 he got, but he has pitched well for us. Nishi has done nothing in my mind to deserve his contract. So I feel worse about Nishi's contract.
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Lead the league in Double plays and still going. 2nd one tonight. We are doing a few things right.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 At this point which is worst, paying Blackburn 4.5 million or Nishi 3 million?Bill Smith.....wow
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Blackie doesn't seem to be fooling BJ upton with anything he is throwing up there.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 there we go.....Blackie was one pitch away from actually havin an above average start (3er in 5IP....5.4 ERA) but BJ got him back to a game ERA of 7.8 (average start which is amazing) That is if he gets another out.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 At this point which is worst, paying Blackburn 4.5 million or Nishi 3 million?I'll try this one, for tonight, Nishi is more valuable to the Twins than Blackie, only because he's planted in the dugout. How about worse than either of these two, Blackie getting his contract raise next year to $5.5M?

jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Lead the league in Double plays and still going. 2nd one tonight. We are doing a few things right. Those are nice to watch and it's a big improvement on last season. Of course, the Twins must be near or at the top in DP opportunities, too.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I'm surprised no one has commented on Revere's assist at 2B. I know it's baby step improvement, but still an impressive throw compared to previous attempts.

I think all of the revere haters have run for cover.
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 11 hits through 6 innings for Blackie.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 isnt this about a Nick Blackburn version of a perfect game???
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I was going to call it a quality start, but then thought better of it and deleted that part of the post.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hey Bert, was that ball that Doumit missed 'glowing'.....he is tough to listen to Wouldnt say anything about how, 40 secs earlier, he talked about how easy it was to see the ball on popups......
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Twins are in for a tough one tonight against David Price. Like most great pitchers we will have to get to him early.I guess we have our proof that Nick Blackburn is a great pitcher, then, because the Rays got to him early.

OK, I'll just come out and say it. Drew would have caught that ball.
minn55441 Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Nice inning for Burton. So is that a feather in the cap of Krivsky? He has really pitched well this year and I think he was the main guy behind the signing. Does that improve his chances of eventually succeeding Ryan?
J-Dog Dungan Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Wow, really hard to win when your 9-1-2-3 guys are a combined 0-15. That is just terrible. Revere is in some kind of slump after that 21 game hit streak
