Spring Training Tickets

My son and I are planning on being in Florida for a week (March 13-18) to watch baseball (visiting both the Twins and the Mets facilities as he is a Mets fan).  We have never done this before.  Do I need to be concerned about the availability to tickets?  Do the games typically sell out or are there plenty walk up tickets available?  Thank you.

Hey I went last year. I grabbed tickets on stub hub for the games I wanted to go to, which worked out well. I didn't get the impression that games were sold out, so walk up might work as well, but if you're going to make a long trip it might be worth the piece of mind that you've got tickets before you go.

Depends on who they are playing and where you want to sit, and there are differing opinions on the latter part of that statement from members of the board. I, personally, for an afternoon game, like seats in the shade. Those would be in the 200 level reserved seating starting about midway back. And, probably those won't sell out, depending on who they play. (Games against Boston sell pretty well; so do games against the Yankees, but they Yankees aren't coming down this year.) My latest trick has been to buy the least expensive seat I can, then head to the first come, first served drink rail seats in the 300 level. But that requires you to get there pretty close to gate opening and then to keep your seat one of you would have to stay there to make sure no one else takes them. I don't mind doing that as I've been to the stadium and ST many, many times. And once in the stadium, there is no longer reentry allowed so you can't wander the stadium then leave to check out the minor league area then go back in. But what I'd recommend, if you've never been, is get to the stadium very early, get your tickets wherever, then wander down to the minor league area and check that out before heading into the stadium.

It was a foggy, damp day this morning at Hammond ...

But I got my ST tickets. (Well, just for the two games I needed very specific handicap seating for my Dad.)

All good advice above, but if you know for sure which games you're going to, I would secure tickets before you go down there, either from the team website or Stubhub (although you'll pay big markups on Stubhub). The weekend tickets tend to sell out. Games on weekdays may sell out depending on who they're playing (Yankees, Red Sox etc...).  Also, if you're spending the night in Ft Myers, be advised the hotel rooms along Daniels Pkwy may fill up with Twins and Red Sox fans. This didn't use to be a problem until the Red Sox opened Jet Blue park down the road.

I've been going down there every year for 15-20 years. You will have an awesome time. I'm heading down there on opening weekend (Feb 24-26).

Depends on the opponent. The Red Sox games sell out quickly. Most games are pretty full. For some, you could get them a couple days ahead of time.

Note - Spring Training tickets are available starting on Saturday at 8 a.m. (I think the press release said 9 eastern)... at TwinsBaseball.com, or by calling 800-33-Twins.

Or today if you happen to be in the area. :) They always do a test of their ticketing system the day before. If you happen to be there at the right time, you can purchase tickets ahead of the crowd. Yeah, I know, does no one any good, but I bought my tickets today.
