From Dave Cameron's chat today

Q:: Indians pitching usage: Kluber for 6, Miller for 2, and Allen for the 9th, or the field?

Dave Cameron: Kluber for 4, Miller for 3, Allen for 2.

Cameron was so adamant about that when someone asked him if Kluber was perfect through 4, would he still pull him? Cameron said yes.

'Mike D: If Kluber has been perfect through 4 with 12 strikeouts, you still take him out?

12:38
Dave Cameron: Yes.
12:38
Dave Cameron: Miller > Kluber. I want Miller on the mound as quickly as possible while still giving me a shot to have him and Allen finish the game.'

Basically, he was saying in a 9 inning game, he would only have three pitchers go and that would have to mean Kluber goes 4.

And in his podcast today, he said that he'd have Kluber through one time then re-evaluate him after every hitter because he wanted Miller in there ASAP.

yeah, the quote I had said he wants Miller in their ASAP as well, but he only wants three pitchers used.  Can't have Miller come in at the 3rd and have him go 5 innings to get to Allen for the last 2.

A sports writer saying one thing in an article and saying something different on another form of media? Color me shocked!!

except it doesn't really look like that is what happened.  cause in his chat he did say he wanted Miller in as soon as possible, but as soon as possible couldn't be the third inning if you only want to use only Kluber, Miller, and Allen (and you figure it's very possible Fowler bats again in the 3rd).  That would be 2-5-2. He wouldn't suggest using Miller for 5 innings.

Suggesting he'd have Miller in as soon as possible would take into account he only wants to use him 3 innings with Allen going the last two.  That means Kluber for 4, like he said in the chat.

George Carlin is a timeless comedian. This quote is from his book, and fits this situation well tonight...

"Here's another thing: I love losing streaks. I wish some year a baseball team would lose 162 games. I especially like decades-long, postseason losing streaks. In fact, as soon as my teams are out of the running, I start actively rooting for the Cubs, Red Sox, Bills, and Vikings to get as far as they can in the postseason so that ultimately they can let the big prize slip away one more time. I think it is an infinitely more interesting news story for a team to repeatedly fail at the highest level than it is for them to finally win. If the Cubs ever win a World Series, the news coverage will be the most boring bunch of **** you can imagine."

Going through the lineup, if he's spot on, would put Kluber through 3 innings.

yeah, if absolutely perfect, it means 3, and then it means Miller goes 4 innings.  He's never suggested Miller goes 4.

But whatever, not worth continuing to argue about.

It will be interesting how they deploy Lester tonight.

I probably would have waited to the last minute to submit roster and started Lester.  Then after one time through the Indian's lineup, pull him and Ross for Hendricks and Contreras.  They would have started a more righty type lineup and then have to stick with it the last 7 or so innings as the righty comes in.

Old school announcers complaining about the real quick hook.  Better Maddon waits till Hendricks gives up three runs before pulling him, I guess.  Hendricks got over 4 innings done, good time to pull him especially when all arms are available (except for Arrieta, likely).

Yep. No way I'd have brought Lester into the middle of an inning. That was the perfect spot for Montgomery or Strop to pitch.

Fluke stuff happened here.  Weak hit, Ross error on that hit, wild pitch.  Probably not good odds to bring him in with a runner on, but that's not why two scored.  No hard hits at all.  Veteran catcher should know better than to attempt that throw.  For such a great defensive team, their defense stinks today.

Oh, don't disagree, but he wasn't the sharpest at all, either. Nevermind the running concerns, which likely allowed runners a running start on any wild pitch.

I'd have him start an inning, but I don't want a guy who's uncomfortable throwing to a base coming in with guys on base in game 7.

Nice to see that Chicago's going to win in their home stadium.... They're cheering louder than Cleveland fans.

yeah, well, Chicago fans travel well and Cleveland home attendance this year was 28th  I don't feel bad that the Cubs fans have come and overrun the place :-)

These are two of my favorite managers going at it in game 7 - hate to see either lose really.

absolutely my two favorites.

Cleveland fans are going to find that karma is a bee-yotch. All those "3-1" parties and posters around town throughout the year....now they're coming back to bite them in the butt.

counting chickens.

Definitely remember Progressive Field looking like a ghost town when the Twins were in town. Though that may say more about who the opponent was....
