TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 it's my basic struggle with superman or other truly invincible types, really. I prefer my super heroes to have an actual weakness or three, but to still have super powers. frankly, it's why I prefer fantasy. Humanoids can have magic or fight unrealistically, but so can others, and everyone can die... It's part of what makes Batman so popular. And one of my favorites.

I mean except for Zach Snyder. I'm sure the creators of Superman back in the 30's thought, "You know what, if we make this guy invincible and capable of every super power imaginable, 12-year-old boys are going pay us nickels by the boatload!" Little did they know that that sort of BS makes for some pretty weak adult theatrical entertainment.

See All-Star Superman or any good Lex Luthor story. Putting Supes in a slugfest gets boring because there aren't many villains who can hang with him and it's literally a slugfest; one person hitting another forever because both are nearly invulnerable. It becomes repetitive quickly. Which is why it's unbelievable we haven't seen Brainiac in a Superman flick yet.
