ANND Welcome! To Minnesota Twins Whine Line: Game Thread Edition! I am your host for the next 2 days, Vanimal. How neat was that victory last night? The odds were stacked against ol' Pat Dean... But he was able to out-duel King Felix, notorious Twins killer! I'm sure he'll be telling that story to his grand kids one day. Let's talk weather and lineups....

It's Seattle. Of course it's raining when the first pitch happens. The retractable roof wins again! Real feel of 54 degrees.

Minnesota Twins:

1. Eduardo Nunez ® 3B

2. Brian Dozier ® 2B
3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B
4. Miguel Sano ® RF
5. Byung Ho Park ® DH
6. Robbie Grossman (S) LF
7. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS
8. Kurt Suzuki ® C
9. Danny Santana (S) CF

P - Phil Hughes - 77 overall in MLB The Show!

Seattle Mariners:

1. Norichika Aoki (L) CF

2. Seth Smith (L) LF
3. Robinson Cano (L) 2B
4. Nelson Cruz ® DH
5. Kyle Seager (L) 3B
6. Adam Lind (L) 1B
7. Franklin Gutierrez ® RF
8. Steve Clevenger (L) C
9. Luis Sardinas (S) SS

P - Wade Miley (L) - Hasn't lost a start since April 19th....

Now, let's get to our favorite segment, the SCORCHING HOT Takes of the day!

Miguel Sano: So much has been said about our beloved Miguel this year. He should be sent down to AAA. He doesn't work hard. We should trade Sano and keep Plouffe. Well, since a thread began on potentially trading Sano, he's been on FIRE! In fact, he's batting a whopping 22 points higher than his season average, and has hit 2 bombs since that happened! Is it possible that TD has successfully performed a reverse jinx on Sano the rest of the year?? I think so!

Pat Dean: There was no love for ol' Patty Dean until last night. He's a soft tossing lefty. He's too old. He's not a prospect. Well he just proved us wrong! Not only did he out pitch one of the best pitchers in baseball, he now leads all Twins SP in K/9! Do we lock up Dean for 3 years $48 million now? Or June??

Robbie Grossman: He was viewed as a laughable signing at the time. Well, since he came up, there hasn't been any Twins hitter hotter than him! In fact, he's on pace to break Ted Williams' BA record! Does Grossman become the dark horse All-Star candidate??

Today is also National Hamburger Day, and National Brisket Day!! Did anyone celebrate in style today?

Finally, this last video has nothing to do with the Twins. 6 year old Obadiah Gamble wanted nothing more than to have Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater attend his 7th birthday party. He made a rap video for all to hear. Have fun getting this song out of your head.

Chief, this one's for you: Colonoscopy.

And I'll raise you an Endoscopy.

Well, a bit of exercise, and off to Sunday morning dim sum breakfast.  By the time I get back, I wanna see Hughes pitching with a lead.  For more than one half-inning.  Is that too much to ask?

I like my dim sum over easy with hash browns! I hope the FO understand the cost of waiting on Pat Dean. His Cy Young award will make him double in price. It has been years since I saw a soft tossing lefty dominate in that fashion. We have to go all the way back to the Milone, O'Rourke, Duensing, and Thielbar eras. Ahhh those were the days my friend! (I always knew they'd end........)

How could you forget the first two games from the pride of North Battleford?!!

I have been in the Battlefords more than once, on the way to Wainwright. But the pride of N. Battleford escapes me! For some reason I remember a nice big triangular intersection, but no statue? :)

Trade Sano.

Trade Sano.

Trade Sano...

Beetlejuice, what are you doing here?

Is beetle juice another name for bug juice?

I always liked the bug juice at summer camp.

Yeah, it might just be cool aide, but i for one am happy to drink the cool aide. Though perhaps not too much of it, i guess.

Is it too early to declare Robbie Grossman the greatest Twin ever? Or should we wait another week?

Dick\Roy have already mentioned how Miley has patterned himself after the legendary Pat Dean! :)

They built it after his first two games and tore it down after the rest. Could be going back up again the way things have gone lately.

Bremer called him pedestrian last night.  I'm not sure what that makes the Twins batters tonight.

Larger problem tonight is Hughes.  Again.

I wonder what the Vegas odds are that the Twins announce that he has been pitching hurt?

I know about pedestrians.

They are walking people.

I don't think you are supposed to hit them.

David HK got his wish. The Twins had a lead for more than half an inning.

See why a guy like Phil Hughes is no longer effective as a starter. He came up throwing mid to upper 90's heat. By the time he came to the Twins, he was down to 93-94. Now, Hughes brings his heater between 89 and 92. Thing is, he's having trouble mixing it up the way a guy like Pat Dean, who has never had a big heater. Dean is an expert at mixing it up. Hughes throws too much flat stuff, which used to work when he had an extra few mph. His off-speed stuff isn't good enough to dominate like Duffey's curve does, and he doesn't move the ball around as well as Dean does.

Hughes can still get guys out, but I think his place is now in the bull pen, where he can cut loose a harder fastball without having to pace himself for a theoretical 7 innings. When was the last time he pitched a quality 7?
