Brandon kind of put the jinx on Trevor May for that night. OTOH he put the reverse jinx ("hitless in his last four games") on Park who has gone 3-8 with 2 homers.

I am as far from an EE fan as exists on this site, but for the love of my lawn chairs, if Nunez continues to play SS when EE comes back, it will convince me that Molitor has lost his mind. I realize hitting stats have become very complete, and pretty definitive, and that defense stats haven't. But I continue to be amazed by the use of offense stats to evaluate a defensive position. Amazed, and dismayed!

Abad has had good results, but is obviously having an outlier season. A multi-year contract would be buying high. I really hope they trade him instead and don't bring him back in the offseason on anything more than a 1 year deal.

 

In a broader sense, I hope the Twins are banking baseball karma this year (and the last 6 years) that they have to cash it out at some point. Hopefully next year, in the form of a deep playoff run.

The crazy thing is that many of these positives were seen as things that would be nice bonuses if they happened before the season started.  I.e. "the Twins will be good, but imagine if Park works out and Mauer regains his magic."

 

For the most part, these positives are theoretically all sustainable, so if some other guys start stepping up, the Twins might start to look like a competitive team again.  And by competitive, I don't mean competing for a championship, just a win on any given night.
