Went to a Kernels game today with my wife and another couple.

The line up included the following players. I thought I would throw in my observations of a few...

Sean Miller hit a nice long ball and just kept getting things done

Luis Arraez

LaMonte Wade Did a lot of good things including a stolen base but was thrown out at third on a ground ball to short, no one on first and only one out. Still, holding his BA over 400 is pretty solid.

Zander Wiel

AJ Murray Threw out two base runners and was a presence at the plate Lots of solid hard it balls.

Bryant Hayman

Manuel Guzman looked uncomfortable at the plate

Max Murphy

Christian Cavaness

The pitchers were

Sam Clay

Logan Lombana

John Curtiss

Clay did not seem impressive yet he did not give up a run and has a 0.00 ERA in 11 innings so far. His fast ball was topping out at 91. His off speed stuff kept the hitters off balance enough to get the outs including a few Ks and he had the cool demeaner to work his way around hits

Lombana loaded the bases both of his innings but also did not allow a run. He looked real rough and he beaned a couple. Not a lot of control tonight.

Curtiss looked like the real deal. His fast ball topped out at 94. He worked fast and was efficient. Batters were uncomfortable and he wasn't afraid to come inside (He beaned a guy with a 92 MPH fastball)

Arraez got off to a nice start last year in rookie ball before cooling off (and was overshadowed by Palacios), but boy does he look like the real thing.  He's 19 too and doing that.  That's a really exciting guy to be watching right now.   If he keeps it up, he might find himself on a lot of top 10 Twins lists.

Arraez did not stand out to me good or bad but considering his age for level and the handbook predicting he start in Elizabethton, not standing out to me in one game early in the season is just fine! He is definitely advancing quickly.

(Edit: he was 3/4 with a double but his stroke compared to Wade or Murray, the sound of the ball off the bat, etc...he didn't stand out but he looked like he belonged)

Stats so far this year are real nice

7 Games, 26 AB, 9 hits, 1 2B, 2HR, 346 avg, 393 OBP, 615Slug, 1.008 OPS

He will be on my radar from now on. Thanks for pointing him out Diehard
