Tanner tweeted today that he is leaving the Twins organization. I did not see that anywhere else here. Does anyone have the rest of this story?

I included that, plus a couple of more releases today in the most recent Minor League release forum thread here:

Tanner is a great kid. Had the chance to talk to him a few times, spent time yapping with him a bit in Ft. Myers a couple of weeks ago... chatted with him a little this morning about this.

He said he is definitely planning on continuing to play. The Twins did assign him to one of hte affiliates, but he declined and after discussion requested his release. He'll get some offers whether it is with another affiliate or possibly an independent league team. I know that there have already been some discussions already... I'll try to keep people appropriately updated here... though I won't share anything that he would not be OK with...

26 year old with a .646 OPS at Fort Myers, the Twins offer him a job (likely because of his dad and not because of merit, since he has been pretty horrible) and he refuses.

Good luck, and don't let the door kick you on your way out.   Hopefully a kid who is a bit more grateful than him retains his job because of that...

Kinda harsh, don't you think? Just because the guy sees the writing on the wall and wants to see if he is a better fit in another organization, doesn't make him ungrateful. He is 26 years old. He needs to find his last best opportunity and obviously it is not in the Twins org. Good luck to him.

From what it sounded like at camp, is that the organization wanted to move him back to Hi A to start the 2016 season and he felt differently; I don't fault him one bit.  Great kid, articulate, easy going personality, best of luck to hooking up with a club in 2016.  Worst case, he could end of coaching in a couple of years helping others chase their dreams.
