I would still trade Capps back to the Nationals for Ramos and his bad knee. Easier to find a closer than a good catcher that can hit.

If you look at those top 4 transactions that happened by the current interim GM, only in the first one he got more than he gave or resulted in improving the club. The other 3 moves were busts and one of them (getting Butera for Castillo) is still hurting the Twins... Gotta have confidence on Ryan...

The Stewart trade was a huge win.

 

The Mientiqiidontknowhowtospellit trade was simply dumping a medicore player to open up a spot for a superior player behind him (Morneau). How was that a bust?

 

They got Boone for nothing, he sucked but it's not like they gave up anything.

 

Castillo was a salary dump 100%, say what you want about Butera but he did develop into one of the best defensive catchers in the game, and though he shouldn't be in the majors he would be a nice player in AAA to work with the pitchers. Dustin Martin ended up being a AAAA player.

 

Not sure those were exactly "busts" just more "meh" then anything else. A bust is when you trade Ramos for Capps or Garza/Bartlett for Young.

Please, if Minnesota would have offered him the same contract the Mets gave him he would have signed here in a minute. Johan was done with Minnesota because the Twins decided to invest that money in Mauer instead.
