Torii Hunter shares his thoughts as he retires with The Players Tribune. 

 

 

 

In 1997, when I was playing Double-A ball, I shared a car with my teammate, Armann Brown. It was a rental. It cost $6.99 a day. It was a Geo Prizm.

We also shared an apartment. It was a rental. It cost $6.99 a day. It was a Geo Prizm.

 

From there, he talked about his hilarious MLB debut. He tells stories from the Twins clubhouse. It is a very well done story.

What a great article!  And another testament that you just don't give up in life.

 

I remember one year in spring training, on the field next to the weight room, Torii, Ortiz and some others were down the right field line in the outfield while others were taking bp.  Fooling around they were hitting golf balls with the bats, seeing how far they would go.  When it was David's turn they switched in an exploding ball.  When he hit it, you could hear the screams and laughter and David was a couple feet off the ground.  They got him good that time!
