Reider Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Span on a one year deal is definitely an option I would consider.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I would be dead-set against any of the pitchers. A really big piece like Plouffe or Hicks would need to be traded before Span or Morneau make any sense. I also think Span can pull a multi-year contract from someone.
sane Provisional Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I have heard that reading baseball webpages with intelligent baseball analysis and that have thoughtful, compelling discussion makes one about ten to 15 years younger than their chronological age.So that theory can never be tested because "webpages with intelligent baseball analysis and that have thoughtful, compelling discussion" are imaginary. HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Not an ex-Twin, but an ex-Central player: what about Cliff Lee? I wish. About 4 years ago. Lee has a pretty long history of injuries. When healthy, he was one of the best.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Could we check and see if Scott Klingenbeck is available? OMG! I still have night sweats over that trade!
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 FWIW...I have no interest in "putting the band back together." I am, however, interested in FA players that may be available to help bolster the Twins. If those players happen to be Ex-Twins, well then, that's just a happenstance. I like AJ if the right deal for a long term catcher just isn't there this off season. It improves our catching situation, (debate all you want as to how much-there are varying opinions to be sure), doesn't cost us big money or prospects, and let's us re-visit the FA and trade market next off season, as well as allowing another full season to examine prospects in our own system; i.e. Turner and Garver. Span I hadn't considered. Now I am. IF Plouffe is traded, I feel the lineup is rather unsettled. It seemed to me a signing might be more along the lines of a power hitter. (still leaning that way) But the Span idea to help stabalize the top of the lineup with Dozier maybe moving down to a larger RBI position. So I could get behind this. Again, the fact that he's an Ex-Twin doesn't matter to me. It's just...interesting.
d-mac Verified Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I could see Span on a one year deal to keep CF warm for Buxton, I don't think he is ready for a full time role in the majors yet. But I hope the Twins plan at catcher isn't to sign AJ. I want them to look to trade Plouffe for a long term solution at catcher.
