Twins players potentially on the block

This will be unpopular, Dozier to Nats for Ramos, start Polanco at 2b.

Ramos has a .698 and .616 OPS the last two years.  I am not moving Dozier for him.

Work on the pen as priority number one.

If they move Trevor May back to the rotation, then they definitely need another guy in the back end to go with Perkins and Jepsen. Tyler Clippard would be nice.

Not to mention he's injury prone.

Basically, the Nats would end up laughing at us twice for two horrible trades.

I don't understand how anyone can justify even throwing out the possibility of trading Buxton at this point. Unless you're getting a Trout, Harper, or Correa, I don't see how it's worth the risk of him turning into the greatest player of all time (slight exaggeration) for another team.,

That's exactly the sort of trade I'm talking about. A prospect package for one blue chip player, like the Jays did last winter, clearing 40 man space in the process. Who knows, maybe they could get Sonny Gray or Jose Fernandez.

I love this idea! Polanco is already better than 2nd half Dozier. Dozier will probably have another monster first half and then cool off significantly, so you shop him before the trade deadline.

The only problem with this is that I think other teams realize Dozier is a fast starter. You have to fool the Nats for this trade to work.

It seems to me we are running a 3 WAR player out of town because he is more of a 2 WAR guy before the break and a 1 WAR player after the break.

My gut told me that Dozier has a history of fading in the 2nd half so I decided to look at his pre and post All Star Break OPS over the last 2 seasons.

These were somewhat surprising to me. I had thought 2014 was a bigger drop-off (my misconception based on the HR drop-off- only 5 after ASG). No question his first half numbers have been better in recent year, but the gap between 1st & 2nd half wasn't too bad until this past year. Makes me wonder if he was playing hurt. I also think 1st half 2015 was an aberration- I dare him to prove me wrong in 2016.

I still like Polanco a lot. He won't have Dozier's power but I think he can get on base at a higher rate. Overall, I think Dozier is the better player over the next 2-3 years but I'd be willing to gamble on Polanco if you can get a quality catcher or starting pitcher in return for Dozier.

So Twins never trade for a catcher because its a need?

I don't know man, doesn't seem too logical. I get the smart thing but I think you mean draft for need.

Over simplified language on my end, but when you trade for a need other teams are going to ask for the sky in return. It can be hard to get a fair deal.
