Another GM bites the dust.

Quite the fall from the heady "#6 org" days. The asst GM he brought with him didnt even last this long...Blengino writes for Fangraphs these days.

Ryan next.  Hopefully.

We have plenty of Ryan threads in the Twins Talk forum. Let's leave it there, please.

From what I have read, Jack Z. is an awful boss who passes blame onto people who work under him, when in all reality, he is the one who should take the blame and responsibility. It sounds like this firing should have happened years ago.

I also read a comment from Seattle's Team President today, saying that "He wasn't a baseball man and it would be recommended to the new GM that Lloyd McClendon and his staff remain past this season. That's what you call "Scaring   prospective GM candidates away."

Maybe I should apply, I just might have a better chance of landing the Seattle GM position than winning the Powerball... wouldn't that be something! :) But seriously, maybe I should send in my spectacular resumé.

4. I like Seattle

5. I have been to Seattle

6. Worked in a print shop and designed and did layout for high school baseball tournament programs

7. I am a fan of Soundgarden, the Melvins, and Pearl Jam

8. I know who Alvin Davis is

9. I know Lake Washington is a fresh water lake and the Puget Sound is salt water, brackish in certain parts.

10. Mount Rainier is beautiful

11. I believe the Green River Killer to be a bad person

... and many, many more qualifying skills and knowledge.

I believe Glunn posted something about the disfunction in Seattle almost 2 years back. It was about Eric Wedge's abrupt departure from the team. It seemed awful then.

Here is one of the links that I read this evening:

It would be really interesting if you got the gig, how long it would take TD members to turn on you? :) Unless of course you go in undercover as a TD'er, and trade King Felix to the Twins for Shane Robinson, Duensing, the rights to Nick Punto and a PTBNL! Then you slip quietly down the Green River into the night!

Hey Platoon, It would be interesting if I did indeed get the gig. :)

First of all not too many TD members know my real identity and wouldn't know the difference or care who the GM of the Mariner's is - they would probably wonder what the hell the Mariners we're doing hiring some no name guy with no prior baseball experience in anything. The few people who do know my identity would probably be happy for me, but be perplexed by how this thing happened, and expect this to be a very, very short term job for me.

My first order of business would be to fix the disaster that is the hitting environment of Safeco Field. They moved in the fences, but that didn't really do all that much. The only way I can envision changing the offensive output is by eliminating the dense marine air that encompasses the Seattle Area from the field of play.

That would require (1) a bio dome built over the area in which Safeco Field is located or (2) draining and landfilling about 2/3 of the Puget Sound.

If option 2 was the only one I could get approved, that would mean demolishing Mount Baker, located in the Northern Cascade Range of Washington and having the debris shipped to the southern and central areas of the Puget Sound. It would be quite an intensive project and would require a 100+ water pump stations being built with drainage pipes running across the Olympic Peninsula, while at the same time a water barrier being built in the northern third of the Puget Sound.

It would cause some shipping problems involving ocean vessels, but I think the city of Seattle would be happy moving these shipping facilities to the Northern areas of the Puget Sound, because it is for their beloved hometown baseball team. I believe the whole state of Washington would be thrilled as well.

Where will the money come from? Well, I am sure I will be given a certain amount of money to work with and will use parts of these funds to hire women/men of the night to seduce local city and state officials and politicians and black mail them into using their corporate ties to produce the money necessary to execute these plans, whether that be the bio-dome or the land filling and drainage of the Puget Sound. Either one works for me.

I thought I'd take a few minutes away from putting my resumé together to answer your post. I'm still working on the baseball ops and personnel agenda... boy, I've got my work cut out for me.

But I thought it would be nice to share with you my first order of business. Wish me luck!

Do it, Bark. Just do it. It won't hurt any, and honestly, the paper, ink, envelope, and postage would cost less than a single Powerball ticket. Who knows? You might make Howard Lincoln's secretary's day. Or better yet, get the job and make mine. :)

Also, I think you're the first person I've ever seen list the women first. Thank you. That made my day in and of itself. :)

What can I say? I am a forward thinking guy. ;)

Memo to 33: I am not sure Barks use of women first in that context was necessarily complimentary, nor did it show advanced enlightenment. I might have more comments, but I wish to avoid either warning points, or at the minimum a roll of the eyes from someone on The Big Windy! :)

If you get the job, I'd like to apply for an assistant GM if you'd let me.

My qualifications:

1. Also a Twins Daily member

2. Also watch a fair amount of baseball.

3. I have an engineering degree and MBA, so hiring me would look like you are trying to get a wide array of ideas coming into baseball (science and business!)

4. I've never been to Seattle, but everything I've heard makes me think that I'd enjoy it there.

5. I'm also a fan of Soundgarden and have seen the Melvins in concert several times, so the office would be filled with some killer tunes.

6. I own a decent rain coat, so I would be able to keep the precipitation off of myself.

7. I'll be able to give you honest opinions about the numerous different craft beer varieties from the area.

8. I'm good enough

9. I'm smart enough

10. Doggon it, people like me.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your response.
